    Hi Everyone,

I’m trying to get all the necessary info together to send in to get my NTS (TN). My questions are:

    1. Should I go ahead and pay for all the sections up front? Or just the ones I plan to sit for within the next six months?

    2. The state requires a 2×2 photo of myself. I went to Kinko’s & got a passport photo taken but it is more like 1.5×1.5. Will that suffice or are they super anal about this kind of thing?

Just trying to get all this stuff together is a huge pain in the rear-end and kind of ridiculous. I’m surprised they don’t ask for you to sacrifice your first born too.

    4 for 4

    FAR 85
    AUD 94
    BEC 86
    REG 90

@SaveBandit I would definitely not pay for all 4 exams up front. At most you should apply for two at a time and even then I don't suggest it unless there's a good reason…I just did that because I plan to re-take BEC at the beginning of the window and REG the last day of the window because I need to get it all done before December. Anyway, spend the extra $$ and apply for one exam at a time. There's so much that can come up with these exams and life can get in the way that you may not be able to complete all 4 exams within the 6-month window that the NTS gives you.

I'm not sure about point #2 but I hope that your state is not that picky. :/

Yeah, don't pay for all 4 sections upfront.. I did and it's costing me some money.

Passed all sections between 5/15 - 10/15 order AUD REG BEC FAR (used Becker only)

OK thanks for the advice. I'm assuming if I only pay for 1 section I can easily pay for another section later? My goal is to take FAR on 11/01, AUD on 01/01/16, and BEC on 02/28/16. But I guess if I failed FAR and wanted to retake it immediately, then I would have wasted $ on paying for AUD & BEC upfront.

@SaveBandit yes, that's correct…that is why it's best to wait to find out if you passed. Also, yes you simply re-apply for another NTS once you find out you pass a section. In NC we have to do an initial application and then every application after that whether testing for a new section or a re-take we have what's called a “re-application,” which is a lot faster to process on their end.

Two at once is perfectly fine, because you'll be starting to study for your 2nd exam before you find out your score for your 1st exam (no reason to waste 2-3 weeks or more just waiting on a score!). However, 4 at once wouldn't be too smart. I did take and pass mine within 6 months, but I'm glad I didn't apply for all 6 at once cause I did have some unexpected life events and the added stress of “I *have* to test before xx/xx/xx” would've been more than I could handle. Things ended up resolving themselves in time to test, but it was nice to know I could push my dates back if needed.

As for the picture, I'm not in TN so can't say for sure, but would think that they're probably OK with the 1.5×1.5. For my 2×2 picture, I got a picture of myself printed as a 3×5 or whatever the standard size is through Walgreens, then just cut it to size.
