NTS Question

I just received my NTS for FAR and AUD. It states that the earliest I could take is is 5/19/15 and the latest is 2/19/16.

I was planning on taking FAR first week of July and AUD the last day or two of August. But, I am not feeling great about FAR. So, far it is not the material, it is me. Very poor time management and procrastination. I am using Roger and I am currently on Chapter 8 of 32. I also have Ninja 10 point combo. My plan was for leave about 3-4 weeks between finishing Roger and my FAR date so that I can use the 10 point combo, especially the MCQs and audio. But because of my poor time management, I am not sure if I will leave myself much time between finishing Roger and my test date to actually be able to use Ninja.

My question is, I have my NTS for FAR and AUD, and I must take the exams for both by 2/19/16. Say I want to push FAR back a couple weeks. So then that would leave me 5 weeks for AUD instead of 7. Can I order another NTS for say BEC, and schedule that for the exam I will take after FAR at the end of august, or do I have to take the two tests on my first NTS before ordering another NTS and taking one of those exams?

You can order the BEC NTS now if you want. Just know that you will have 6 months to sit for that exam once you get it. I like your plan and I think BEC is doable in that time frame and then you'll have more time for financial, which you will probably need!

    A - 75
    B - 78 God is good.
    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

Paperwork sent - waiting for license!!
Still on a cloud and in shock. Through God, all things will happen.

I think it's a mistake to wait until you're done with Roger to start using Ninja. You could be using the Audio right now– I constantly listened to the Ninja Audio during my entire study period, and it was SOOOOO helpful. All of the repetition really helped drive the concepts home.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

Do not order an NTS until you are ready to take an exam. That's my personal advice.

Scroll through these forums and you'll find post after post titled “NTS Expiring! Help!” There's no reason to put yourself in that situation. It cost me more money ordering them one at a time but I ordered mine about a month before taking my exam, received my NTS and scheduled. I never came close to having one expire.

@allaboutstout I also used Roger for FAR and 10PT combo and I know exactly what you mean about the poor time management. Had the same problem. Hopefully by rescheduling you can get back on track. I'm a bit confused on the timing of your exams. If I'm understanding correctly you plan to take FAR at the end of August so then you'll have AUD left to take and your NTS expires on 2/19/16. Why can't you take AUD in the 4th quarter? Say late November? That will give you more than enough time to take AUD, not 7 weeks. Am I missing something?

    FAR - (11/01/14) 71 (02/07/15) 79
    AUD - (04/30/15) 86
    BEC - (07/21/15) 73 (10/01/15) 75
    REG - (11/30/15) 55 (05/19/16) 74

@Kimboroni I tried using NINJA along with Roger, but it didn't work. Just made everything more complicated. The order of topics that Roger goes through is not the order of topic NINJA is going through. I tried to make it work but it just made it worse. So, my plan is to use Ninja as a long review session (3-4 weeks)

@Zumo76 No, my original plan was to take FAR the first week of july. Then take AUD last day of August. Then take REG first week of October and take BEC last day of November. Of course that is taking in the assumption that I pass all 4 on the first try, which is rare. I just want to do it that way, and then use the beginning of January as a cushion for any section I failed. I really want to get the tests (or at least 3 of them) finished prior to the middle of January. I have a out-of-country vacation planned for a week in the mid of January. Perfect world, I'd finish all 4 before then, not have the stress with me during the vacation and use the vacation as also a sort of celebration. But, I would be content with finishing 3 of the 4 by then, using the vacation as a bit of a rest and then hitting the last section hard when I get back.

I could either attempt all 4 before the vacation, or forget that approach and attempt 3 before my vacation.

    Or this plan:

I have my NTS for FAR and AUD. Scratch the original plan for FAR ~July 5th/6th & AUD August 30th. And change it to FAR end July/Beg Aug. And schedule AUD for beg of October.

How is your nts for 9 months? That's really odd, they are usually limited to 6 months. Is it your state?

Ya, I am in California. Thought it was 6 months too since that is what everyone mentions on here. Didn't realize it was 9 months until you brought it up lol

The topics don't need to line up. Just keep listening to the audio nonstop in order and it will help things click. If Jeff is talking about something you've already covered in Roger, then it will help the concept stick better. If Jeff is talking about something you haven't gotten to yet in Roger, then it will make more sense when you get to it in Roger because you've already had that little preview. It really helped me.

Thank Kimboroni, I will give that a shot. I just didn't want to work the MCQs prior to learning it Roger because I didn't want to get into the state of mind of just memorizing the MCQs questions and then wasting that question for future use. I wanted to use them to legitimately test myself, and I felt that when I was coming across NINJA MCQs that was talking about a topic that Roger hasn't even covered yet, I was memorizing the answer.

But, anways, back on topic: What scheduling plan do you think I should do? I posted them in my 2nd post

@allaboutstout I agree with Angelwatch just wait to apply for another NTS until you get through with FAR and AUD. You have plenty of time since your NTS doesn't expire until 2/16. You don't want to get into a situation where you've paid for another NTS, life gets in the way, you fail a test, etc. and it expires and now you're out $200+. If you're worried about the timing for applying for BEC or REG, the re-application process is a whole lot faster than the initial application. It only takes about a week or so to get an NTS. So as soon as you find out you passed AUD then apply for BEC or REG or both since your NTS doesn't expire for 9 months (lucky you).

Also, I agree with Kimboroni…you can listen to NINJA audio while going through the sections with Roger. It's really not that confusing. I also re-typed the NINJA notes into Word and tried to match those up with Roger and it wasn't too bad and then I just incorporated my notes from MCQs, Roger's book and Wiley focus notes and it worked out well…a little time consuming but it helped. If you plan to leave yourself 4 weeks of review you'll see that you'll easily be able to incorporate NINJA with Roger. Good luck!

    FAR - (11/01/14) 71 (02/07/15) 79
    AUD - (04/30/15) 86
    BEC - (07/21/15) 73 (10/01/15) 75
    REG - (11/30/15) 55 (05/19/16) 74

How much time are you studying each week? It looks like you may be stretching out each section over a pretty long period of time, which makes it easier to start forgetting the earlier stuff you covered. Then it tacks on more and more time at the end so you can review everything.

    FAR mid/end of July

    AUD end of August

    BEC early October

I would think that would be doable if you are studying roughly 25 hours each week.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

    Thanks for the pointers everyone.

So, if I were to fail FAR or AUD, I can re-use that NTS as long as it hasn't expired for the retake? Or do I have to apply for a new NTS for a re-take?

@kimboroni – That is the thing, I don't much structure to my study schedule unfortunately. I did, but then fell behind it due to me getting distracted and procrastinating. I know I can cover a lot in the next 6 weeks if I seriously buckle down, but idk if that will be enough time to finish roger, ninja notes, audio and go through the ninja MCQs a few times.

Retakes require a new NTS unfortunately.

I totally understand about falling behind. I just meant how many hours each week for the plan going forward.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)

I can honest commit all the time needed. I am single, and the only commitment I have is working 7am-330pm monday through friday. So I have the time. That is not the issue. It is using the time effectively. Haven't been that efficient.

I'd wait to add another NTS to the mix until you've figured out how to achieve the efficiency you think is sufficient. Don't get another NTS hoping it will make you step up your game. Thats the same stinkin thinkin as a bride buying her gown 4 sizes too small.
