    Hi,

I have audit left to pass the CPA exam. My NTS expires at the end of April. Since there is such a delay in the score release I would like to get a new NTS and take the exam at the end of May. Please advise how I go about this. Thank you!

Why not take the exam in April before the NTS expires? Maybe I'm confused? If you don't do that, then you'll let it expire and simply apply for a new one…

Because you can only take an exam once per window. I do not want to risk it just to save the new nts fee.

Do i just cancel my current nts and apply for a new one?

If you cancel your NTS, you would have to pay for a completely new one. You are basically re-paying to take the exam. If you don't feel like a month is enough, then apply for a new one… but if you feel ready, just take it and don't re-pay.

There are a handful of states that will extend an NTS one time no questions asked, call your board and ask if they will for you. If they say no you can ask them to cancel your current NTS asap allowing you to request a new one.

I'm in NY and had the same situation as you last quarter, there is NO way for NASBA to cancel an NTS, I had to let it expire, then I had to wait about a week for NASBA to update their computers and afterwards I was able to get a new NTS (turnaround time about 1 business day after re-applying).
NASBA did mention I could've also schedule a test day earlier and don't show for the NTS to expire and I could've then apply for a new NTS and take the exam in the same quarter (as long as your launch code was never entered at prometric), but I was cautious about this and let it naturally expire.

@Gerald. I am in NY as well. It just sucks that I have to pay again but I don't feel comfortable only having 1 month to study. Rather not risk it.
