So I’m supposed to sit for AUD on 5/2/15 but I’m not ready at all. In fact, I haven’t even really started studying. I got so caught up with classes and starting a new job that I didn’t allot any study time. The problem is my accounting manager knows I’m supposed to take it 5/2/15. I want to reschedule but don’t want to tell her. If she asks if I passed should I lie or be honest? Has anyone ever been in this situation before?

Honesty is the best policy when it comes to work.

I've talked to numerous friends about this exact scenario. Many have lied and said they either passed (in hopes of catching up down the road) or lied about taking the exam and were still “waiting for their results.” In most cases the people I know have regretted it as lying always comes back to bite you, so I would suggest against it.

I wouldn't bring it up, but if your manager asks I would be up front with her and say you didn't have enough time and were forced to reschedule the exam. Life happens and you wouldn't be the first person to reschedule your exam due to unexpected things getting in the way.

However, if you really want to tackle the CPA, you need to be more disciplined in your studying. It'll have to be at the top of your priority list, or else you'll find yourself falling behind. You can still make the Q2 window for late May, but it's all on you if you're determined and focused enough on studying for it.

NEVER EVER LIE with any CPA related issue!

Once we are caught of lying, integrity and trust are lost forever.

With as competitive as the job market is these days, I'm going to presume that it took a significant amount of time and effort on your part to land your current position. So why would you even consider lying to your manager, particularly over something as inconsequential as when you plan on taking a part of the CPA exam?

If you don't feel like you'll be prepared, then just bite the bullet and reschedule. Even working full-time you still have more than enough time to prepare for AUD before the current window closes, if you can't do that then schedule for early July.

If your manager starts asking questions then be straight up with her that between school and work you didn't feel like you had enough time to adequately prepare and that you'll be taking it on another specified date instead. Any reasonable person will accept this as a perfectly legitimate reason for delaying the exam and won't think twice about it.

What you need to do tomorrow is make a study plan and commit to it, because it is all too easy to let life get in the way.
