Just wondering what everyone is seeing for a private industry accounting job in general for starting salary with a BBA in accounting from a very reputable AACSB accredited program? Also this would be with no prior experience? I realize it will vary from region to region.

Just in case you're not familiar with it, Robert Half's salary guide is a good resource to get some ballpark ideas for this sort of thing, though of course individual results with it vary.

I live in a very low COL area. My first industry job (which I got after 1 year in bookkeeping/tax, and asked for “some prior accounting experience”, but didn't require it and some coworkers it was their first accounting job) I think we were all paid about $12-$13/hour ($24-26k/yr, probably more like $26-28k due to overtime) and I thought I'd struck gold getting it, cause that's pretty good pay for around here. It wasn't a first accounting job for me, but it was an entry-level job, as I was switching to industry and it accepted people without experience, it was still an entry-level salary, albeit a good one for this area (it was a 50% raise from the tax job that I had, but the tax job that I had paid very low…).

45-50k in most large cities. I would run from most companies who won't offer the market rate straight up because they will nickel and dime you the rest of your career with them. In general, I expect my employer and employees to live by the following: pay people what the job is worth and if they don't meet expectations then find somebody who will.
