Anyone from NJ have any tips on the fastest, cheapest way to get 3 credits? What did you do for those extra credits?

So I don't know NJ rules, but for me the cheapest way to three credits was obvious…local community colleges. Thomas Edison State College is also pretty reasonable…and you'll have in state tuition.

Did you do online or in person? Also did you take accounting courses?

I didn't have any applicable courses in my undergrad. Wait…not true, I did have macro-economics, which I didn't realize would count. I actually didn't even remember having taken it (I went to a hippie college, draw your own conclusions).

I took all of my accounting/finance stuff 20 years post-degree at community colleges, and one at Thomas Edison. I had to use 3 different schools because some had class A and others had B. I ended up taking 37 credits that way…basically however I could get them…

I took some on line, and some in class. I took intermediate 2 on line, which was an absolute BEAST without instruction. Overall, I definitely don't think I got the background most traditional students come out with. My audit class at thomas edison was DEFINITELY harder and more thorough than most others. I think that showed in my CPA exam result. I absolutely do prefer live class.

Oh wow so you are way older than me. Intermediate 2 was one of my best classes BUT I could not picture taking that online! Hats off to you. I think the safest thing for me to do would be to enroll at my local community college. Maybe I should shoot someone an email.

Yeah…I'm greying/bald at 42. I sent an email to the 202 prof early on asking about something or other…and he sent back just read your book. For 202. Not real fun.

If you have your accounting stuff down, take a class just for fun. History…philosophy…whatever. I wish I could go back and take more hard sciences.

    CLEP EXAM!

Take the analyzing and interpreting literature one. It counts as 6 credits. I turned $80 and 5 minutes of studying into 6 credits.

You then need to transfer your exam score to your alma mater's transcript. If they dont accept CLEP, enroll in Thomas Edison State College, who will generate a transcript for your CLEP results.

I was 1 credit short for NJ and took a 1 credit 2 week online course for $550 at university of phoenix. Annoying and expensive in my opinion but I didn't feel like returning to the classroom.

That's about it. After 5 months of studying everyday, I had no desire to take any sort of class that required more of my time and money.

CLEP was great. 90 minute exam, 80 mcq. Need a 60% to pass I believe. Minimal study time.

You can subscribe to any of Big 4 sites and they offer free cpe webinars usually between 1-2 credit hours.

@Runner237 are you referring to CPE hours or college credits?
