Here’s the situation:

I have an interview tomorrow for a part time accounting position at a hotel at Times Square. Pay is very good $26/hr, 3 days a week so I can go for my master’s degree at the same time.

Today I suddenly got a call from one of New York City’s top public accounting firms to go for an interview on Monday. Most likely a full time audit position which is what I have been looking for.

Obviously I would prefer to work at a public accounting firm but I am not sure whether I will get the position or not and you know how long it can take to get an answer. Assuming I get offered the part time position tomorrow, what would be the best way to go about it?

Tell them that you need to think it over to make sure it is what you want. Most companies should never expect you to take the offer on the spot.

My current employer called me 3 weeks later with an offer and she expected that we would take a couple days to think it over.
