    Hi all,

Is anyone here a member of the National Society of Accountants? If so, do you find it useful? I’m debating on joining. Mostly I just want access to their annual fee survey, but if full membership is worth it, I’ll subscribe.

Also, does the AICPA do a few survey? I’ve never come across one, although I’m a new member to that org as well.

I was member for a year maybe ten years ago.

That professional association represents a little different slice of the accounting professional than the AICPA does. My sense is, the National Society (which I think includes lots of EAs) targets the one person accounting firm. Or the one accountant accounting firm. (Roughly 70% of CPA firms are one or two person firms, I think…)

BTW, the fee survey fees always look pretty low to me.

@seattlecpa, this is good to know because when I finally pass this exam, my business will become a one person cpa firm ( fingers crossed)

    It begins with a 75

I would think you'd want to join the AICPA ($300?), join their private company section (cost $35), and then participate in the MAP survey… once you do that, you can slice and dice the AICPA's stats on single owner firms.

The results are fascinating… E.g., you can see detailed profiles of top performing single owner firms… revenues, profits, services offered, etc.

I'm not too fond of the NSA as they keep spying on me when I'm doing book keeping or preparing tax returns. I could even swear they are keepng tabs on me through Quickbooks Online : p
