My Big 4 pending offer and class grade

I have a pending offer at one of the big 4 firms and I’m staring work in January. I’m finishing up the last semester in my Master’s in Tax program and I’m finally done with all of my finals. My concern is that I don’t know if I can pass one of my requirement classes. It might sound like an excuse, but this is what happened – I was allowed to bring 10-page notes to the final but 10 minutes before my final started my computer froze and I lost the document. Without my notes, I totally bombed my final.

If I don’t graduate this semester, the company might revoke my offer. I’m an international student and I’ve already applied for my 1 year work visa. I might not switch back to a student visa, which means I might not be able to finish my Master’s program.

Do you think emailing my professor would help? I really need to pass this class.

Given the importance of your graduation this semester and the very unfortunate timing of your computer freezing, I would definitely take the time to write a good email to your professor explaining your situation. If possible, seeing your professor in person would be even a better idea. Assuming you had at least decent rapport with this professor (or the professor has any sense of compassion), you could maybe work something out to save your January start date and not have to switch back to a student visa.

If your teacher won't budge, I would contact any advisers that you may have or even other professors that can try to help ameliorate the situation.
