Hi everyone. First time poster, long time stalker on this site. Shout out to Jeff for making great products that helped me tremendously. My question is related to moving to a different city and going into public accounting. I currently work for a large manufacturing company in finance. I worked for 2 years in a corporate accounting role before my current position as an analyst. Long story short, my wife really wants to move back home to be closer to her parents. I am looking into trying to get into tax at a firm in that city. I have no tax experience, except an internship I did in college at a really small firm. I am a CPA and have 2.5 years of total accounting experience. I have always really liked tax and wished I would have gone into tax before I got my current job.
My question is I won’t be able to move until the beginning of next summer. Since I most likely will be going for an entry level job, when is the appropriate time to reach out to these firms? Also, besides applying online, I was thinking of sending them an email to the email listed on their site and reaching out to them on LinkedIn. Good idea or bad idea? I really appreciate any input. Thanks again
