When someone is a candidate in the MS in Accounting program. When they are done and graduated, is the correct credential behind the person’s name

    > Joe Blow, MSA or is it Joe Blow, M.S. this has been an argument in my workplace as one of my co-workers will have completed the MSA program and graduate this upcoming weekend

I have a MSSW (from my prior career) and for a time had a social work license so was Double Jen, LCSW. When my license expired (because I didn't need to renew it since I wasn't a social worker anymore) I missed having letter after my name, so I started using Double Jen, MSSW. When I got my MSA, I figured I might as well add that so now I'm Double Jen, MSA, MSSW. But when I get my CPA license finalized (which is turning out to be a saga!), I'm going to drop them both and just use CPA.

    Jen

I would be proud to put MD or a science PhD next to my name. To me, the only value an MBA brings is that you could use it to get you a managerial position. Then you would put “manager” or your job title.

Thanks for all your input. I don't think I care either way if I have letters after my name (until I can put CPA!) But, I find I'm kind of bothered as this is the question put to me by a co-worker this morning: “why does so-and-so, the-typist, have MBA after her name and you don't have anything?… You have a degree, right?” To which I felt I needed to justify how educated I am. Ugh. Maybe it should read crzy_in_ca BS, BA, MSA. Now how to work in the cum laude & honors… hahaha..

It's about being proud of accomplishments, and you should be. But if you don't need it, don't include it.

The typist should not put any letters other than a certified credential. Like CPS, Certified Professional Secretary. That is absolutely a no, no. She is representing the company, not herself……I hope that was a hypothetical question about the typist. anyway, there is no need if there is no need.

    It begins with a 75
