Okay, so I am about 3 weeks away from starting my first job in public at a ~15 person firm with 4 current CPAs. If all goes well I will have completed the exams when I start working, and my experience requirement will only have about 6 months left to be met. Then I would be 1 of 5 CPAs in a 15 employee firm.

One of the partners (there are 2) is planning to retire in about 5 years.

My question is this; is it too ambitious to think I might be able to work my tail off to become partner? If it’s not too crazy of a thought, what should I focus on immediately and as I go on regarding trying to make partner?
