So recently I’ve been applying for an entry level audit position or intern at public accounting firms. I’ve been going through the list of top 100 public accounting firms, Googling each one, visiting each one’s main webpage and applying on their careers page or emailing their HR email.

After I am done, I am planning to use a recruiter. I don’t know much about recruiters, I’ve only heard about them. I heard positives as well as negatives. Anyone have any experience or knowledge with recruiters?

Do you guys have any other tips or advice? Although I know I have to be patient, I am also in a rush since I want to start getting actual work experience already and my wallet is emptier than the Sahara Desert.

One more question. Anyone have any idea why do some public accounting firms show up in NYC on Google map but is not listed as one of their locations on their main webpage? For example, if you Google Frank, Rimerman & Co., you will see a location near World Trade Center in NYC on a mini map. But the NYC location is not listed here: https://www.frankrimerman.com/contact-us/

@Sunni: For FAR, understanding is the most important. Try your best not to rely on memorization. Spend as much time as you need to understand something. There were days where I only completed 10 MCQs in an entire day because I was Googling and YouTubing the topic and any questions that come to my mind. When you really understand a topic, you can tackle any MCQ no matter what perspective they throw it at.
REG is pure memorization. Nothing else I can say about this.
Believe or not, I passed AUD studying for 2 days only because I forgot to reschedule it. I received a phone call 2 days before exam date and had to stop studying REG in order to study for AUD. I went through all the lectures in 2 days with only about six hours of sleep in the two days hoping I might miraculously pass. You know how a lot of people would spend atleast a month on each section studying and practicing MCQs? Well what I realize was that this is not the case for AUD. It is actually better to go through the entire thing in as short amount of time as possible and RIGHT BEFORE exam date. There are 2 reasons. First, AUD is like a recipe, one topic leads to another. It is easier to understand when you go from one topic to the next as soon as possible. Second, if you take the exam right after, everything will be fresh in your head. This is not like FAR where you have to spend time understanding concepts. There is barely any understanding needed. It is mainly memorization, but it is easy to memorize because it is not precise numbers like REG. During the exam, the 2 days of information was fresh in my head.
