Hi guys

I recently got a temporary and flexible gig as doing tax prep .. the original plan was that I would be seasonal and work hourly depending on the volume of work. It hasnt been that busy so far, I’ve never had to work more than 35 hours a week. I recently got an offer at a International firm. However I feel guilty for leaving the small firm in Tax season even though the tax season is slow.I feel like it would be foolish to compromise a longterm career over appreciation for a temporary opportunity. The environment at the small firm is pleasant the people are really nice. Any advice?

It's a temp job. You thank them for the opportunity but tell them you were offered a permanent position. Not confrontational just factual. If they desperately needed you the job wouldn't be temporary. They'll find someone else in a hot second.

After being in the corporate world for over 10 years I learned that there is no such thing as “loyalty”. You do what's good for yourself and don't look back. As long as you're handling the situation professionally then no bridge will be burn. Do you think they would hesitate to let you go if they find someone better and cheaper?
