I’m taking BEC Tuesday. I have to work all day Monday, and Tuesday morning before the test.

With probably only 4 hours to study after tonight, how would you tackle your weaknesses? Just do more MCs? I feel good on everything except IT depending on how hard the questions are. I am a Becker user, and I have completed all the MCs two times, watched all lectures, done both practice exams, and did the final review product.

I usually like the final review product, but it may have been a waste of time for this test. The lectures are really long and boring. Mike Brown is probably the most pompous annoying lecturer I have ever had the displeasure of listening to. It took me most of the weekend to get through.

Any help is appreciated. Really hoping I can pass. I have no idea why everyone says this is the easiest.

My advice is the same for every section:

At this point you either know it or you don't. If you do know it, you don't want to confuse yourself with too much study right now. You'll just cause yourself to second guess everything. If you don't know it by now, are you going to pick it up this quickly?

As such, my advice is light studying the day before on the weak areas and no studying the day of the exam.

    Thanks for replying.

I don't know why I find the two exams everyone told me were easy to be the hardest. I felt good going into FAR and REG and managed to pass. Right now I feel the same way I felt going into AUD, just a bit confused. For AUD I stayed up all night before the test and only got 3 hours of sleep. Maybe if I don't do that again I can squeeze through, but realistically I'll be taking it again over the summer. Kinda wish I would of enjoyed the holidays now instead of blowing everything off for studying. Oh well.

    Yeah, I hear you.

I'm having more trouble with BEC than I did for my other 2 sections. I won't say that FAR was easy for me but going in I knew it was the “hardest” so I treated it accordingly. I studied my butt off and I felt rewarded with an 84. It also didn't hurt that I was between jobs at the time so I could spend a ton of time studying for it. Audit I had a pretty solid background on before opening any review material so I didn't study nearly as hard for it (which I think explains why I passed the exam but didn't do nearly as well as I did on FAR).

For BEC, I'm just struggling more than I did for the other 2 sections. I've never liked Financial Management and Economics was my weakest area when going for my Master's degree. I'm not panicking yet but I've hit the point where I'm just like “if I fail, I fail…” I work for the Government and a CPA isn't required in my area.

Hopefully we're both just overly stressing BEC and it will be fine. For what it's worth, it does have the highest pass rate.

For AUD, when you circle back to it, there's no real trick. I can't remember what you said you're using for BEC but Becker did a really good job of preparing me for AUD. It was very comprehensive and I worked every MCQ at least twice and felt fully prepared (like I said though, I had a lot of audit knowledge already). But in the end, it does have the lowest pass rate of all of them so it's not one to underestimate either.

you guys will be fine! BEC is tough while studying but trust me the questions are not really long and drawn out as they are in the review questions. Just know cost, coso, and IT.

Angelwatch, im taking AUD on thursday and at this point idk what more to do. I have done over 5,000 questions so far and am closer to 6,000 including the initial becker questions i did. I'm also using ninja. do you have any tips?

@jstay, are you a Becker user? Did you supplement? I'm only using Becker and I'm not sure the IT and COSO will be enough. Too late to do anything about it now. I'm just curious. Good luck with AUD. Since I failed my advice would be useless.

@DoOver — Don't burn out. Seriously. You know what you know now. Skim your text to lock stuff in your short term memory. Also, don't fatigue your brain before walking into the test. I wouldn't put too much weight in what people say about “know X & Y”. Every one of these tests is unique so have a grasp on everything. Above all, relax and make sure you get some sleep the night before. You're not doing yourself any favors by stressing out.

Jstay, if you've done that many MCQ you should be fine. The biggest piece of advice for AUD is to simply read the damn question. A single word will change the answer so you need to know, exactly, what the question is asking.

Beyond that it's just knowing the differences between engagements, the different opinions, testing assertions, the different reports and a good overview of sampling. But if you've gone through all of those MCQ, you should have a handle on it all.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I think it's best for me just to relax, maybe review some IT tomorrow after work, and get a good nights rest. I learned my lesson with AUD that staying up all night will not work for me. I'm sure some people can do it, but there's no way that helped me previously so I will refrain this time, as much as I want to keep cramming. I'll let you all know what happened come Feb 4
