I was an auditor for a little under 3 years, and transitioned that into a job in private within private equity. The salary and benefits are great at my current job, but I’ve always viewed it as a transition job between public accounting and becoming a controller/finance director.
I recently was presented an opportunity with another private company as a controller through a business connection (they reached out to me). I haven’t gotten a job offer or anything yet – I’m just thinking it through in advance.
I was just wondering if it was too early to jump from my first private accounting job. On one hand, the current company I’m with is a great workplace (reasonable hours, salary, huge company/resume booster). On the other, the potential job would give me the title/responsibility I am seeking.
Has anyone gone through something similar or have some thoughts on if this would be a good/bad career move?
