Hello everyone. I am a current Accounting/MIS student who is planning to finish 3 sections of the CPA exams by the end of May. I just applied for my NTS and for a few days now, have started studying for BEC.

I have gone through 30 hours so far of ninja MC with a trending score of 81. I feel that these questions are not so difficult once you go through them and patch up your weak areas.

So my question is this: Is the exam that much harder than ninja? I feel extremely confident that I can knock out both BEC and AUD before February and go from there but I do not want to be too overconfident and mess up badly; this stems from the fact that I see people spending over 100 hours on BEC alone and also supplementing with other sources such as WIley.

Can you all share you inputs on if only ninja is sufficient and the difficulty in relation? I saw the actual vs ninja thread but I just want to remedy some bias from the post.

So far in my experience it seems like ninja prepares you well for the kinds of mcqs they can throw at you. Difficulty is sometimes hard to determine on the exam because the pre-test questions can be kinda out there. The nice thing I have noticed about ninja mcq is that it has taught me over and over again to read the questions carefully. At some point you become proficient in what to look out for and change your answer or thought process accordingly. I am unsure with the BEC mcq, but as far as the exams I have taken and passed, I believe they were typically harder than the ones asked in the exam.

I am actually attempting the same exams for this window except in reverse order. Between you and me, if you are trending at 81 you are on the right path. Just remember that it's more than just getting the mcqs down, you have to do decently well on the sims or writing sims. So don't forget to throw in some sims to get used to the format they will throw at you. Wouldn't hurt to take a look at some research sims later after BEC too. I think that is a difficult part for some candidates… they get too caught up in mcqs to remember that the concepts are what they are after. Also everyone tests differently, so I hope you find what works for you!
