So here was my BEC experience:

    1st testlet= medium= flagged about 6

2nd testlet=hard= I did TERRABLE on this one. Things I didn’t see before were present and concepts I did recognize I probably bombed too.

    3rd testlet=medium= flagged about 3

Essays I feel I did really well on- 5 paragraphs for each and I proofread them.

That being said is it possible to pass? If I completely bombed a testlet? Anyone have any similar experiences?

Based on the design of the scoring metrics of the exam there is no reason to just assume you failed. Keep in mind there are pretest questions that don't count against you, and questions have different weight values (some are worth more than others). The 75 points required isn't a straight percentage, it's a score.

Besides the metrics, just think about some of the probabilities. Say you knew 10 questions on the second testlet and guessed the rest. A pure guess on the other 14 is still going to average 3.5 extra correct answers, and likely some (or even most) of those were educated guesses (i.e. better than 25% chance). You could easily have gotten 14 or more questions right and still feel like you bombed the testlet.

Keep your head up and try not to be too discouraged. People generally seem to feel like they scored worse than they actually did for all parts of the CPA exam. The reality is you just have to wait to see what the score release brings. It seems like you felt comfortable with 3 out of the 4 testlets, and that's a much different story than someone who comes out feeling like they bombed the whole thing.

    I had a very similar experience… Scored an 88.

Don't write yourself off yet. Based off your prior scores you know how to study for these exams. Trust your prep.

    Good luck!

I had a similar experience where I was very unsure on a lot of questions and ended up with an 88. The testlet you might have bombed will score you points even if you didn't get all the questions right.

I've felt similar in all 3 exams I've taken so far, and as you can see in my signature, I've passed them all……stay confident and remember the philosophical words of KG after winning the NBA finals with the celtics….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wcz_kDCBTBk
