I am using Becker right now. I passed AUD after three tries. REG 61, FIN 66. I now the dedication and study will pay off. I decided to try the NINJA notes to add to my studies with time around with FIN. I hope it works. With work, home and everything it's a lot as we all know. Reading everyone's experiences on this site has given me new outlook and hope for passing. Not giving up!

    CPA exam advice:

    1. Go through MCQ more than once…for repetition and also know why you got a question wrong

    2. Create your own flashcards if not Ninja Flashcards are good…rewriting materials may help you retain the information

    3. At the end of your study, write down everything you know. If you didn't write it you don't know it!!

    4. Know the theory behind formulas not just how to compute

    5. Do work on simulations

    6. Use the Another71 forum. If you don't understand something chances are someone else don't understand or someone has put it in layman terms for you

    7. Put in the time! If it was easy everybody would be doing.

    Career Related Advice

    1. Always be professional

    2. If you don't know the answer or not sure insist on researching. Don't give out incorrect information!

My best piece of advice is get it done. Don't take breaks. (Okay I don't mean don't take breaks throughout the day while studying, and I don't mean don't take a weekend off, or even a week or so for vacation). What I mean is don't take a month off. Don't take a whole testing window off. Study your ass off. Suffer. Turn down plans for things that you want to do. Work your ass off for as many months that it takes you and get the test behind you, so that you never have to suffer again. I've met far too many people who have taken years off from studying, and have to go back to studying once they have so much more going on in life. Once the have families, more obligations at work, and a lot more to lose because they can't be promoted until they pass. Just get it done!! My plan is to take at least one test every window until this beast is behind me. I have one down and 3 more to go and I can't wait to be done 🙂

Best piece of advice I can offer is that when you do go to sit down and put in some time studying, be sure to eliminate ALL outside distractions. Find a quiet space whether it be the library, your room, or your cubicle at work. Turn off your phone, disconnect your internet, throw on some headphones (noise canceling ones work wonders for me) and get to it! When it comes to distractions and procrastinating your worst enemy can be yourself, so don't give yourself the opportunity!

-Believe in yourself. If you have gotten to the point of being an exam candidate then you CAN pass if you're willing to put the work in to it.

-Be willing to put the work in to it. This is a real-life grown-up test; not a college exam you can cram for. No test or final in undergrad or grad school even came close to measuring against the CPA exam.

-No one is going to hand this license to you. If you want it then YOU are going to have to EARN it. No sympathy points being given out in this process. No matter how tough you feel like the exam is, chances are that someone else has it even tougher and they're managing to use their timely appropriately and make this thing happen.

-Don't ever give up on the exam or yourself. The odds are actually in favor of having to repeat one, if not more, exams again. You are in charge of your success and you are the one that will beat those statistical odds.

-Live a balanced lifestyle. Don't get too wrapped up in the exam and lose who you are and what your priorities are. This exam is extremely important in your career but it is NOT the most important thing in your life. Always make time for your family, friends, loved ones, and yourself.

-Take care of yourself. You only study when you are in the correct mindset. Make time for exercise, eat well, try to cut out the bad habits. These are the choices that you'll thank yourself for both now and later.

-Don't get in your own head on exam day or study days. This is a test that any of us can pass so just do what you know works. Study well, really put quality time in to your review, do exactly what your review course tells you to, and bring it all together on exam day. If you pass, it can be one of the best feelings in the world, if you don't pass then just regroup and go at it again. The sun will rise tomorrow, pass or fail.

Good luck to everyone working on the exam and congratulations to those who have passed!

Exam tip: The great thing about technology is that it allows you the opportunity to squeeze in an extra five or ten minutes of studying on your smartphone wherever you might be: the train, the bus, waiting in line at the DMV and on the can. So go ahead and take that 10 minute bathroom break! And if anyone at your firm questions why you always seem to be in the bathroom, make sure you are seen with Chipotle often and if they get really pushy, start practicing your TMI defense now. Trust me, after a few sentences with explicit descriptions of corny consistency, they'll never ask again

    FAR - 62 , End of aug 2015
    BEC - 67, 67
    AUD - TBD
    REG - TBD

When doing MCQ in the Test Bank, read the explanations from the wrong answers and take notes. Also, read the notes explaining the question topic and make your own notes. You can learn alot just with the information available with one question.
