For BEC written communication parts, I used i-phone voice memo utility function to record question/responses. I prepared 50 potential essay questions by reading clearly and recording them into i-phone and I listened to them during my commute for 4 weeks before the exam. They all became common sense to me after listen to them over and over again. FAR: Passed but expired on 12/31/13, re-exam on 02/25/14, AUD 85, REG, 76, BEC: took on 01/21/14 still waiting for the score.

I have learned that taking the CPA is very difficult and have not passed one test yet. I think best advice is always keep a positive attitude. I have two kids under two studying is becoming more difficult. I recently just had back surgery so it has set me back a little with study time. The best advice for me is don't get frustrated with each test you take. Take the positive out each situation. Life is a journey and you will run into a few bumps a long the way. Just don't get down on yourself.

15 pages of study tips!!! Good gracious!! I read the first page and that's it.

I have one study tip and a piece of career advice.

Study tip is to completely immerse yourself in the CPA Exam. If you are committed to the Exam (no friends, no tv, no fun basically) until it is passed, you will most certainly succeed.

The career advice is more or less study advice. For those of you graduating with a MACC (or some sort of master's) and you're starting in the Fall at a public accounting firm. I highly recommend not “taking that summer off”. You'll have plenty of time off later in your career.

The way I look at is “you can either be miserable for a short amount of time (studying for the exam and passing that sucker) or you can be miserable throughout your career (keep putting the exam off when life gets in the way).”

My advice is accounting career related (may be more applicable for large firms) since I haven't had too much success with the exams so far.

If your work place offers additional groups like sports, or club networks, or sponsors social events, I would highly recommend going to them. It will give you an opportunity to meet and connect with more people outside of your usual engagements. I don't know what I'd do without some of my friends that I've met and kept in contact with especially during busy season now!

    Don't give up.

Listen to the material as much as you can. In your car, at your desk, in the shower. ANYWHERE

Try to apply the material in your job environment. Where are the rules/advise being followed, where does your company depart from GAAP. Controls. Stocks.

    AUD: 8/17/2012
    REG: 4/29/2013
    BEC: 7/8/2013
    FAR: 1/16/2014

For my study tip I prefer to use index cards when writing my notes vs. legal pads. I find it easier to flip through the index cards when I do my review rather than go through pages of legal pads.

I am using Becker right now. I passed AUD after three tries. REG 61, FIN 66. I now the dedication and study will pay off. I decided to try the NINJA notes to add to my studies with time around with FIN. I hope it works. With work, home and everything it's a lot as we all know. Reading everyone's experiences on this site has given me new outlook and hope for passing. Not giving up!
