I am not an expert at passing the exam because I have taken AUD twice and not passed either but I what I can say is that this is going to be a difficult journey and I have to be resilient and brave, this is the only way I will get those three letters before my name. Also get support like this forum, it really makes you feel a part of a group who all are in the same situation as you. Good luck all!

    Incentivised lurker here. 🙂

My career tip (or self reminder?) : The accounting field is a smaller world than you think. Be careful not to burn bridges, no matter how much that tax partner pisses you off during busy season.

My tip is to mentally commit to studying for the exam. I studied and took the exam 3 times, failing all 3. I decided to get my MACC and now with 2 children at home, I'm going to work on mentally motivating myself to pick up the study materials again and attempt this exam. Or should I say PASS THE EXAMS!!!!

Do some MCQs before reading/listening the notes, that will give you an idea about what sort of questions can be asked from the topic and keep you hooked.

Plan well, do as many MCQs as possible.

Buy a good sample question paper (exam rehearsal) and do it about 5-7 days before your exam date and then work on your weaknesses.

One of the better pieces of advice I would give would be to consistently lurk on the Another71.com board forums… Or participate… Either way, I get a lot out of reading the forumns on a daily basis. It helps keep me focused on my goal at hand.

    Best of luck to everyone!

Study tip: Commit to a daily study schedule, like it's part of work. 20 hours a week. A couple hours everyday. Take notes and do questions, as many as you can! And when you lose faith, log in to Another 71 and stalk to forums for encouraging advice and stories!

    REG - 82 (11/09)
    FAR - 72 (2/27/10), 79 (5/29/10)
    BEC - 69 (7/9/10), Retake 11/26
    AUD - 75 8/28/10

Study hard all day every day but don't forget to enjoy yourself from time to time. Make getting this CPA your #1 priority and everytime you don't want to study think about how much more you're gonna have to study if you have to retake. Not studying for that extra hour or two the day before your exam could lead to you having to restudy the entire section for 1-2 months. Don't waste time give it your all and get this done.
