My best CPA study tip is to review the past AICPA released questions that are released every year. A quick search on Google will bring up a lot of results (i.e searching for “2013 aicpa released questions bec”).

The best advice I can provide is to create a study plan that not only consists of reading and taking practice exams but also provides time to relax with your family, friends, etc. They are your support group and will help you stay sane during this intense time (besides, a little relaxation is always a good thing)!

Don't forget to review simulations!!! MCQ questions are important, however sometimes you aren't fully understanding the concepts and just memorizing the answers. It took my three attempts to pass REG all because I kept getting hung up on the simulations. Not until I really practiced them along with the MCQ did I pass. Good Luck!

    AUD - 83 (expired)
    BEC - 65/77 (Expires 6/30/14)
    REG - 72/72/79 (Expires 6/30/15)
    FAR - 60, 69

My tip, once that 18 month clock starts ticking, don't miss an exam window if you can avoid it. And work through those MCQ's til you have nightmares about them.

For the exam tip – Learn via MCQ, it's one thing to read, watch a lecture, and take notes…it's another (71) to be able to decipher what the question is really asking and what the difference between the answer choices is.

As for a career – if you're not in public accounting and you want that CPA to propel your career, work for someone who values professional development. If you don't have that – change jobs and then apply yourself to your studies.
