To survive the CPA exam you need to plan an effective study schedule and stick to it. Also utilize any free time to studying or listening to material on your current section always adds up.

Once you pass an exam, do not take long breaks! I ended up missing an entire window when i passed Reg on my first try. Needless to say i regret it truly! So take a wknd off and enjoy , and then start chugging along.

    Good luck!

    Finally done!!! Experience-pending. Ethics- Pending.
    Reg 78 / 73/82.
    Aud 74/89.

Don't burn yourself out! Take plenty of small breaks, but stick to the plan. The exam is very difficult and will break you down, but in the end it's all worth it!

    Stick to your GOAL!

I am fairly new to studying for the CPA exam, but I have taken an exam so far after life got in the way of things and delayed me several times. My best tip is to do the proper research as to what study materials to use and then never give up……no matter what happens, if you give up you WILL fail. If you keep at it and keep trying, keep studying, and never give up, eventually you will pass and be victorious. Many forget that and 10 years later still are not CPAs. Or procrastination delays everything. Keep reviewing, keep studying, don't procrastinate, and never give up!

My best advice for the BEC exam is to make a cheat sheet with all the formulas and read over it everyday. This helped me pass it.

FAR first, one section at a time till you pass. One review course at a time, don't be stuck paying for all four sections with course that isn't working. Schedule the exam when you're able to pass, if you don't have an overall avg. of at least 75 on mcq's, you're not ready to pass. Don't just sit for exam because others are pressuring you. And supplement review course with NINJA, it really does add points.

The best tip I have to offer is on the order of taking the sections:

    FAR>AUD>BEC>REG

FAR is the most comprehensive and gives some people fits. You must know enough of journal entries in case you get some FAR related topics in your AUD simulations. The internal control portion of AUD flows well into BEC. I haven't gotten into REG yet, but I assume there isn't much from the other sections in REG, so it might as well go last.

I know there are many CPAs out there that didn't follow this pattern, but for me it seems to have made sense.

The thing that helped me the most with FAR was writing things down. I made a ton of flashcards, and often times, I never even reviewed then. Just the act of writing it down made the information stick. I don't think you really even need to make flash cards. Just outline the chapter or write down all the formulas with your extra time (I know, there's no extra time with CPA studying, but it's with it to find the time).
