Don’t get caught up trying to understand every single detail or concept. You’ll end up wasting precious study time that could be spent picking up little fact nuggets elsewhere. Spend a few minutes, mark the trouble area and move on. Come back to it later and try again. If you still don’t quite grasp it, ask the forum audience for help explaining it.

    AUD 96 Progressively
    FAR 86 Getting
    BEC 79 Worse...
REG 84 I can't believe I made it out alive!

I have not taken a test in 5 years, I failed both AUD & FAR 5 years ago, and I failed so miserably I concluded passing the CPA exam was not in my stack of cards! I have since regrouped my thoughts and have decided that it can be done. My advice or tip would be DO NOT DO THIS TO YOURSELF!! I am now 32 with 3 kids wishing every morning when the alarm goes off at 4:45 AM that I stuck with it and finished when I was 27 and only had a small baby at home! FIVE YEAR breaks are not good!

    AUD - 56 (8/2008) 77 (5/2014)
    FAR - 57 (5/2008) 82 (2/2014)
    REG - 59 (9/2014) 79 (11/2014)
    BEC - 74 (2/2015) 77 (5/2015)

When in study mode, to not even have that temptation to check my “notifications” on Facebook, I temporarily deleted the Facebook application from my phone, and turned my internet connection off. This way, there was no way the social media was going to lure me in to distract me. This was probably the best thing I could have done.

Best study tip I can give is to really get down into the material and know the details. It isn't enough to just know the high level stuff and “sort of” know the details. You really have to be able to get the information off the top of your head, especially since the test is timed.

Make sure you strike the perfect balance between studying, getting enough rest, and making time to relax. All employers don't understand that you can't get any work done because you're tired and stressed over studying for the CPA Exam. There is still work to be done. You just have to find the balance that works for you.

My tip is to keep doing MCQ and also rewrite the notes till you know them well enough.
