My study tip: When you find yourself too distracted to really study, put on classical study music on Pandora, and open up your study materials. The calming melodies (and lack of lyrics) can do a lot to improve your focus and get you through another hour of studying. Who knows, you might actually find some songs that you really like!

Licensed NH CPA as of July 2015

    AUD - 74 (Oct '13), 84 (Jan '14)
    FAR - 79 (Feb '14)
    REG - 61 (May '13), 81 (Aug '14)
    BEC - 79 (Nov '14)

My best advice for the CPA Exam, is at the end of the game the king and the pawn go back in the same box.

The CPA Exam is no immeasurable task, it's been done before, and will be continued to be conquered through hard work and a little bit of luck. Share the joys and success' with your fellow ninjas on this forum!

The best tip I can give that certainly motivates me:

Think of how badly you want that feeling of hours and hours of studying to be over. Think of the people around you or that you know of who've passed. Think of how much smarter you know you are compared to some of them, because let's face it – we ALL know at least one person who passed the CPA and we thought “Seriously?? THEY passed??” Are you really going to let them get that edge over you? I think of all the things that bothered me and got me motivated to take the test to begin with. Constantly remind yourself of why you're doing this. It usually does the trick of sending me into psychotic study mode where nothing can stop me.

    Good luck to everyone!!

The best tip is to take the exam right after college because those college classes will be helpful for the exam!

What's helped me the most in studying for the CPA exams is getting a feel for the information by generally going over the material to get an overview of what I'm up against. I'm studying for FAR, and the sheer amount of information can be overwhelming. Also you should know what kind of learner you are. I need repetition, so once I go over a chapter, I go over the notes everyday which helps it stick in my head. Good luck everyone!!

The biggest tip I can give anyone, is no matter what – you have to set the time to study. When you put in the time, you are bound to pass no matter which software program, audio, video etc you use. If you study everyday for an allotted period of time, you will pass.

    Here is my study advice:

    1. Study with a partner – it holds you accountable when you want to give up and you can each help each other learn the tough sections.

    2. Get up every hour to walk or stretch – this stimulates the brain with oxygen and enables you to retain more. (We do flash cards or discuss a topic while walking around.)

    3. After every 3rd chapter, go back to review from the very beginning. We study every 5th question in our study bank questions during a review and mark the ones that give us pause. The next time we review a new set of questions we also add in the ones marked for review.

    4. Give yourself at least 2 weeks to review and take practice exams before going to sit. Make sure you are very comfortable with the material so it reduces your anxiety levels.

    Hope this helps!
