Make your own flashcards, targeting small details that you can't remember and that aren't covered in other flashcard programs. Review them all once the night before the exam, and separate those that you still cannot remember or that you feel need to be reaffirmed. The morning of the exam, go over those flashcards and essentially cram them. That's the only real ‘cramming' you should ever do.

My tip is to leave more time than is suggested for the SIMs. For REG and FAR I used about 75 minutes each, not even realizing that I could use the authoritative literature to check my answers. For AUD I just happened to have 2.5 hours left and I used all that time researching the answers to my SIMs. Remember they account for 40% of your score. Its like getting to have an open book test!

    FAR (10/1/13) - 86
    REG (11/25/13) - 88
    AUD (2/10/14) - 94
    BEC (4/7/14) - 86

Honestly, the best study advice for the CPA exam that I can give is to actually try EVERY TECHNIQUE and find what works best for you, then stick with that as long as it is working. Everyone learns differently. What helps me retain the information, is not necessarily what will help someone else. Try the Becker lectures, try the Wiley books, try Wiley test bank, and see which works for you.

    CPA Exam Tip:

Study in short bursts throughout the day, every day. Short sessions > Long sessions for retention of material. Take the materials with you and OWN them.

    Hiya!

Don't think there will be a perfect moment when you'll be 100% ready to take the exam. Set a date and stick to it!

The best couple of CPA exam tips I have are don't give up and take ownership of your study habits. If you have failed an exam dig deep you KNOW why. Facebook, email, and internet browsing doesn't count as study time. The more you sacrifice the better your chances of passing. If you don't finish ALL of your study material (meaning all of the MQC and all practice sims) you're probably not ready.

    FAR - 77 - 05/03/13
    BEC - 80 - 05/30/13
    REG - 65 - 07/08/13
    AUD 82 - 08/05/13
    REG - ?? - 11/25/13

There are two mistakes one can make along the road… not going all the way and not starting.

    My exam tip:

Read the materials. Listen to the lecture (if you have one). And then do the practice questions. Don't do chapter one and not look at it again until your final review. Look at chapter one, then two, then one and two together, then three, then one, two and three together. The material builds. It all works together to put it into perspective.

Also, don't get discouraged. I studied for my first three parts with my ex fiance. We learn two different ways and it was really hard for us to study together as we would never not get the same things, and the other would be frustarted having to re-explain things. I think having a study partner to keep you motivated to stay on task is good, but ultimately I am much more successful when I study by myself.

My CPA exam tip is to peak at the right time. Burn outs happen if you push yourself too hard too early. Pacing is crucial so you retain more when close to the exam day
