The best tip I have is to take your time studying. When you feel rushed and you're studying last minute, you don't retain the information as well. I took all four sections studying for them in two weeks, not NEAR enough time. I have taken a month to a month and a half to study now and have already passed two sections! I take my time and actually read, learn, and retain! Give yourself enough time to study all the material, then enough time to REVIEW. I think the amount of time you spend reviewing is key. 🙂

Best study tip: Write down lots of notes, I write down each MCQ that I get incorrect and read it the very next day and review at least twice before the exam. Keep at least 1 week before the exam to revise and answer practice tests.

Read the study book and work the questions at least 2x before sitting for the exams. Do not put too much focus on the videos and rewrite the ninja notes.

    My exam tip:

No matter how good you are with self-studying or how many people you have in your support corner, you should get together with at least one other CPA candidate who is preferably studying the same section as you. My study partner and I spend about half of our time together studying and the other half just talking because there is no one in either of our families that truly understands what we are going through. I can’t tell you how much better I feel after our “study sessions” just knowing that someone else feels the same way I do about studying for this tough exam. And of course the added benefit of being able to talk out certain areas that I just quite seem to get! 🙂

    AUD- 67 5/21/13, 77 7/15/13 DONE!
    REG- 65 10/28/13, 74 1/27/14, 74 5/10/14, 76 10/04/14 DONE!
    FAR- 62 7/19/14, 72 11/4/14, 76 1/15/15 DONE!
    BEC- 79 8/16/14- DONE!

The best tip I can give is create a study plan outlining how much time to allocate to study for each section before you begin studying. Also make sure to read all instructions and questions thoroughly.

    Exam study tip:

I know its hard, but just schedule time out of your day to study. Don't study for more than 4 hours at a time. Take breaks, go for a walk, make a pot of coffee, play with the kids, then go back to studying. And REWRITE THE NOTES!!

Take Omega 3 supplements. They help improve your memory. I can tell a huge difference in my ability to retain and recall information when I take these. Also, lots of caffeine and the Pomodoro method. Google it.
