Start with a section you feel confident about.

Go through the material you want to learn in one or two sessions and really focus on remembering that material. Then, depending on your schedule and timeline, do multiple choice questions. When you do them, understand why. If you don't understand, reread that whole section! Multiple choice questions should take the longest and where you learn the most. To make it not so boring, I would watch TV and then do a couple during commercials. Something along those lines made studying a lot more bearable for me.

    Good luck!

Interview tip, because I haven't seen too many.

Actually interview the interviewer. Make it a back and forth. That's where you find out if the job is right for you.

The best tip i can give is to not skim over the parts you hate the most or the parts you just don't get. FORCE yourself to study everything and with all of your effort for each section. Also, don't forget to have somewhat of a life. If not, you will get burnt out and everyone you live with will not want to be around you. 😉 So still treat yourself or go on a weekend getaway now and then. Just plan accordingly.

Make sure you have a study plan in place, and that it is a reasonable one for you and for your lifestyle. Map it out– check the calendar for possible distractions– so that you can put the time in and take that test on the scheduled day. Don't rest on your laurels that you have always been a good student and test taker– these tests are HARD. They will challenge you in new ways. They are made to weed people out, so take it seriously. You need a plan in order to do it.

    oh, and BE A NINJA!

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

The thing I do is print out the MCQs. Make notes on them. Write those notes on flash cards then put those flash cards in alphabetical order and rewrite them in a notebook. You can easily find the topic you need if it's all in ABC order.

Mine would be to turn off the distractions. I have to turn off the tv, and put away my phone. Otherwise, I'm not concentrating at all!

    REGx2 1/19/2013 (77)
    AUD 2/24/13 (76)
    FAR 2/28/14 (77)
    BECx2 1/19/14 (70) 5/25/14 ?

My best exam tip is to stay relaxed and focused during the exam. If you feel yourself losing focus or getting nervous take a the next break available and grab a drink of water/splash some water on your face and try to step away from the exam for a minute or two.

Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." - Calvin Coolidge

My best advice for studying for the CPA is to choose the best time that you are the most dedicated and your mind is clear. Really? Yes, I just said that! When people tend to study sometimes they are studying at times that is most inconvenient and thus they become less interested. For example, after work in the evenings, I am the least enthusiastic and motivated with any type of studying because i'm worn out, stressed out, and really don't want to be bothered with. However, early in the morning before work and before my stress levels peak is the best time. Now, as for advice on studying i would recommend the NINJA Products from Jeff at Another71. These products are an absolute must have and a wonderful addition to your studies. MY plan is to read a chapter each week, do MCQs, go to my Ninja products and Review, more MCQs, and a wrap up review of that chapter to figure out what are the most important and talked about topics within the chapter. Lastly, allow yourself an adequate amount of time for studying and be dedicated and firm with those times. Giving in will end up hurting you in the end! Best of luck in your studies!

    Sincerely,

    MrCPA2B
