The best way to study for these exams is to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE…

The more multiple choice questions you do the better your chances of passing! The Wiley test bank and books are a great resource! Very reasonable and well worth it! 😀

Take the test section you are most confident with first. It's always better to start off this process with a pass. Then, even if you fail a section later, at least you'll have one under your belt.

I have two tips 1) Purchase Ninja Notes for all four sections and read them several times! This helped me a lot on the last three of my exams. 2) Only apply to jobs that you really want to work for. In other words, don't just apply to the Big 4 just to see if you can get hired or to work for a prestigious firm. There are plenty of CPA firms out there that are less known and are better for your work/life balance.

    Back to Studying!!!

    FAR: 78 THANK YOU LORD!
    BEC: 75 THANK YOU LORD!
    AUD: 69 (August 2013), 70 (October 2013), 75!!! THANK YOU LORD!
REG: 87!!!! AMEN AMEN, and AMEN!
    THANK YOU LORD, I'M DONE!

My work tip is this: Be confident in what you know, and be willing to learn what you don't know. Don't accept the SALY method. If you know that is wrong, say something and show your worth. That means when you take over an account, you take ownership of it. Understand what you are doing and why, so you can show others why you did what you did.

    Best Career Tip:

    BE YOURSELF!!!

I cannot express this enough. Yes it is important to get the good grades and the proper education for a great career but there is one thing that is just as important as a degree, personality! Every time I am asked by friends what I think is important for interviews or find an opportunity in conversation to elaborate on this point you better believe I make sure I point out that they have already made it past the hard part, getting the interview, and now it is all about showing who you are going to be as an employee and person. Why would you want to enter into your career not being yourself? I have support for this as well. The very first “big girl” position I applied and interviewed for I nailed it! How? I later asked my boss, when we were finally comfortable with each other, why me? To give you a little background on my education. I went to a small college called Saginaw Valley University and worked very hard but honestly was very far from top of the class in my degree. The best way to describe Saginaw Valley is that is was an overgrown high school capping its students at 10,000 students every year. I was competing against other candidates that were top of their class in top universities from all over the state. So why me out of the 4.0 top of the class honor students from top universities? His answer was simple, “You’re personality. It is easy to teach and train someone a new position but you cannot teach and train someone into having a better personality.” How true. I was floored and was amazed in receiving the job position and I truly believe too because I know the opportunity I was given and the reason why, that every day I am able to get so much more out of the position I obtained than someone who was just expecting it to be handed to them because of great grades and honors. I am not trying to offend anyone that exceled in their studies and do carry 4.0 GPA and are top of their class, which is awesome and good for you! It has to be understood though, that there are individuals who do not easily grasp material and school is much harder for them to excel in. It is then frustrating and a complete struggle to get through college and very difficult think you even have a chance at a semi-decent job because you have to compete with individuals that their studies come very easy to them and can easy walk down the isle at graduation with honors. Know that whether you have graduated at the top of your class or somewhere closer to the bottom, that though you have the most expensive piece of paper you will ever own, to win that interview that gets you a great career, at the end, be yourself!

    My best tip:

If you find yourself getting discouraged, take a small break. Do something you enjoy and don't feel guilty about it. The worst thing you can do is let yourself sink into a pit of despair (over the exam OR work) and have to climb your way out.

Hi everyone, here is my useful tip which is accounting career-related: if a colleague or superior wrongs you in any way whatsoever, try not to hold grudges but let go of those negative thoughts. Also, never say anything negative about anything or anyone, even in front of people with whom you may feel a certain level of comfort. Always smile, say positive things when you can, and keep your mouth shot for the rest of the time. That is the only way to survive and thrive.
