Long time lurker and first time poster here! (just like Jeff mentioned, haha) I finally got started studying for FAR this week!

Anyways, my best tip can be applied while studying for the CPA, in a career, or even life in general: Be very cautious when trying to compare yourself to others. Your strengths may be the other person's weaknesses and vice versa. What worked for someone else, may or may not always work for you. It's usually best to truly know yourself and use your strengths to achieve your success.

I know many people who have failed and I have been lucky enough to pass the 3 sections I've taken on the first time. I honestly cannot stress enough “time management.” Everybody tell you that but I think that's the reason I have been successful. You have to organize your study time: how long to go, how manhy chapters, what to do each day. Having a plan and sticking to it as best as you can gives results. Have realistic goals and stick to them.

I think It is really important to keep a balance life between studying and your normal day routine. The hard part of the CPA exam is not the actual exam, but is the dedication you need to invest in the studying process. When I started my CPA exam journey I cut off my gym time completely because I couldn't afford to miss one hour a day to go to the gym. I was miserable and thought the CPA was consuming my life. I suggest try to keep a balance with your daily activities. now I am going 3 days a week to the gym and I usually listen to my Ninja Audio while i'm working out. Instead of studying after work when I am already exhausted from a long day at the office, I am waking up one or two hours earlier to do my studying, that way when I get home i can study for an hour and then relax. My advice is basically to find the perfect balance between your lifestyle and studying, that way you will process information easily instead of being miserable and not motivated at all.

My study tip is to start early, create and stick to a study plan, and to relax the day before the exam–or at least the evening before. Last of all, stay positive!

CPA Exam Tip: Dont forget to exercise! Even 10 minutes a day will make studying so much easier. It clears your head, gives you some extra energy, and sends feel good hormones through your body. Take the time to go for a walk or your favorite resistance exercises before you reach for that extra cup of coffee, youd be surprised at how well this works! Good luck guys!

Exam Tip – Create a study schedule you can actually live with and leave room for the unexpected. It's easy to think you can tackle the whole thing is x days but something always seem to throw a kink in the works. In the event you get out schedule, recommit and adjust.

The best way to study for these exams is to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE…

The more multiple choice questions you do the better your chances of passing! The Wiley test bank and books are a great resource! Very reasonable and well worth it! 😀
