I definitely agree with people who have recommended taking the exam before you start working. It makes things much more manageable.

DO NOT procrastinate. Set a timeline, plan and study. Too much idle time between study sessions (days) is very counter productive.

The exam tip that I would give is to non-stoping review before you walk into the test room. And for my own experience, you need to “walkthrough” each chapter quickly and do all the MCQs in order to efficiently master all the materials you need to.

Study tip: find the course that works for you. Becker, Yaeger, Rogers all have different styles. One may work better for you than another. Also, don't look too far ahead in your study plan. I dreamed about having to pass all 4 parts rather than putting in the daily work load consistently which prevented me from efficient studying.

I dreamed about having to pass all 4 parts rather than putting in the daily work load consistently which prevented me from efficient studying.

To Jeff-I hope you don't disqualify me because I just passed the CPA couple months ago and now my husband is going on the journey, taking his first exam BEC in April. So we are actually two people, not someone trying to get a better chance at the ipads. You're the best Jeff. Another71 rocks.

Tip: Don't ever underestimate the value of CPA or how difficult it is to get through it. My husband made that mistake when I was studying for these and now he regrets trying to comfort me by saying all the “stupid things people say about the CPA exam” like “You are overstudying, you should know all this since you work in public accounting?” type of stuff. Also, no matter how bad you feel walking out of an exam, don't trust it. I ended up passing the exam that I felt horrible walking out of, and failing all the ones I felt really good about.
