My exam tip is using Index Cards. I originally bought them from Becker, but didn't use them at all. Instead I made my own. I was making one after one on material requiring a lot of memorization. I would start with a lot them for each section, maybe like 50. I would carry them with me everywhere (daughter's gymnastic class, family trip to the zoo). Glancing at few of them at a time is good enough to help you slowly memorize the material. When you have few minutes, and you are alone, try to recite the material out loud. If you can say it, it means you know it. The cards you already memorized put away, and work on new ones. After few weeks, you will carry only remaining few index cards, and you should know most of the material. Review, recite, and repeat. That's how I try to remember the most difficult parts of the material.

    Breaks, Breaks, Breaks, Breaks

The best way to study the material is by taking breaks every 20 minutes.

No chance I'll win but the 3 best study tips are:

    1. GET UP 4AM EVERY MORNING (EVEN SAT+SUN) TO GET IN SOME QUALITY STUDY TIME (trust me it will become easier after 2 weeks on constantly getting up before the rest of the world does).

    2. DIVERSIFY YOUR STUDIES – LECTURES, AUDIO, FLASHCARDS, BOOKS!!!

    3. GO TO BED EARLY AND GET YOUR 7-8 HRS OF SLEEP EVERY NIGHT – you'll find your study time is much more focused with well rested mind!

    Good Luck!!!

The best advice I can give so far regarding taking the CPA exam is to not take the exams so close together when there will not be adequate study time. I was an A student in accounting in college but failed all 4 parts the first time because I tried to take them too close together while working and finishing school. NOT a wise move. I have now passed the REG portion and will take the BEC portion tomorrow morning. I feel more prepared after using Ninja notes . . and that is not a plug to attempt to “improve” my chances . . that is absolute truth. Thank you Mitchell for telling me about Ninja notes!

Hold yourself accountable to your studying. Stop making excuses. Don't be afraid of your own success.

Best study tip I have is to stay calm and just keep reading something from my Wiley Books. When I feel behind in my reading, I convince myself not to panic and just to continue reading as quick as I can! Eventually without even knowing it, I catch up, versus if I had panicked and scrambled to get it done.

The best advice I can give is you have to focus and work hard without distractions while studying, however you do need to take a break every now and again. Also, don't get frustrated while doing practice tests, use them as learning tools don't worry about how you score on them just learn from them. Good Luck!
