This is a really useful thread that I will probably go back and read over some suggestions. My study suggestion is to study the way you normally study for exams whether it be flash cards, reading, highlighting, etc. I started using flashcards but I realized that is not how I studied best so I have since switched to just note taking.

    FAR- 7/15
    AUD- 8/28
    BEC- 10/6
    REG- 11/21

My study tip: Would be to watch the videos for each section and immediately do the homework questions after. After that I start from the beginning of the book and read this time through and then answer the homework questions for each section. The last phase is to redo the homework questions for a third time without help from the material until completing the question. Reviewing the ninja notes a few days before the exam is also a plus. Worked twice so far for me.

And by the way, it is inspiring to see all of the rest of you achieving your goals in your progress towards earning a CPA . Its great to see the ones who are finished. And even better to see the ones who despite missing the mark on one or more exam, still push on.

REG – Still working on my credentials

BEC – Still working on my credentials

FAR – Still working on my credentials

AUD – Still working on my credentials

Never give up on your dream of becoming a CPA! Pursue your God given goals knowing it’s never too late to accomplish everything God has placed in your heart. I failed the AUD section of CPA exam in Dec 2013, and today is my 1st day preparing to retake the AUD section before month end. I will not stop pursuing my dream until I pass all four sections.

One tip is to space your tests far enough apart that you get to adequately cover all of your study material. I rescheduled one of my tests because I naively scheduled it very close to another one and knew I wasn't prepared.

One thing that really helped me was taking notes on topics that I was weak in – and you'll know what areas these are when you're listening to a lecture and just think “Ehhhhh…I don't get this. I remember hating this when we covered it in school.”

Resist the urge to just skip the area. Instead, read through the material on your own, even do a little googling, and make notes to refer back to later in your final review.

I have found that plodding through material without looking back on material I just covered was not effective. I would look at something just covered and be surprised at how new it looked, like I had never covered it. So now I have begun to look at covering the material in a three steps forward, two steps back approach. I am constantly going back to material covered in the past two or three days to make sure it sticks. Not sure if this helps but there it is.

I would recommend to study hard, study everyday, 2-3 hours at least! I know it is hard, but it will pay off later! There is no way to pass a CPA exam without studying, so be ready to spend 100-120 hours studying on every section. I just sat a BEC exam last Fiday, will get my grades after Feb. 25, I hope I passed it
