I've been trying to pass the CPA while working for one of the big four accounting firms. Due to lack of study time, I've failed several times. I've recently quit and began seriously studying. What works for me:

    1. Read and take notes

    2. Do all MCQ and take notes

    3. Review all notes (cumulatively)

    4. Re-do all questions in areas you're weak in (cumulatively)

    Repetition, repetition, repetition!

    Good luck!

Study Tip: Repetition is key. Write notes, then re-write the notes, then re-re-write the notes again. Listen to any audio, and keep replaying it. Then keep working the multiple choice problems. This may seem tedious, but if you do it enough times, things will become more natural to you (think about when you learn a song on the radio – if you hear it enough times, you start learning and remembering the words). Good luck!!

My advice would be: read through the material one chapter at a time, take brief notes along the way. Then do the MC questions related to that chapter. Do this for about 3 chapters, then go back and review for notes for Ch 1-3, and do spot check MC questions. Repeat this “set of 3” format until you get through the entire material related to one of the four sections!

Study Tip: Try to understand the concepts rather than memorizing answers. The CPA exam is very tricky and you need complete understanding to answer questions. The exams tend to ask things in a crazy way so if you know and understand the concept you can answer the questions. When all else fails try to reason. rationalize and eliminate

    Good Luck Everyone…

    Exam tips:

Good life style: go to bed before midnight and get up at 6 30 or 700 am. do work at morning!

Efficient break: find something you are interested in. (gym, Texas holdem, chat with”Girl” friends)

Girlfriend Rule: oh gosh, this is my hurt. I strongly recommend you take the exam immediately if you are single. The passing rate will doubled, even tripled!

Places to study: I preferred local coffee shop! or public library in daytime(free parking!); empty classrooms over weekend or weekdays' evenings (free parking!) BTW do not do at school library! if you saw your ex and her new bf, they would destroy your pleasant CPA review. the other reason is noisy! college students are always energetic than the elders who routinely read newspapers at the same seat nearby the window!

Belief: I can pass, you can pass! rock ‘n' roll!

Do as many MCQ as possible. I've never found the Simulations in Becker's software to be as useful as the MCQ. Also the Ninja Audio and Flashcards provide an easy way to study at anytime. I keep both on my phone and look at it multiple times a day.

This is going to sound pretty brown-nosy. But I use the flashcards I purchased from Another 71 all the time.

They are on my phone and whenever I have moment free (on the train etc) I run through them. Also, when I can't sleep, I run them instead of FBook or any other productivity killer. It helps me to fall back asleep and when I wake up guess what's on my mind.

So, if a little schmoozing lands me a prize, so be it. But they seriously help my brain keep the minutia relevant.

As a ninja success story my best advice is to stick to the NINJA method! I had purchased Yaeger before finding Another71 and the difference was night and day when i supplemented the NINJA notes and audio. I can now say I am done with the CPA exam thanks to Jeff. Best of luck to everyone out there!

    FAR - 75

    AUD - 83

    REG - 76

    BEC - 78 bubble survivor
