One of the best study tips I have learned over the years, during studying, raise your sense of focus and awareness and continually improve on your biggest weaknesses that are most represented on the test. For example, if I have multiple sub-sections that are weaknesses within a section, I will review to see which are most represented on the exam (16%, 12%, etc.) and rinse and repeat until all score above 85.

Exam Tip – Stick to a schedule and keep on moving even if you don't understand the material 100%.

Career Tip – Internships are golden for people graduating soon and for people already working…expand and increase your skill set such as learning to code or pass the CPA exam…bring more to the table. Not only will get you the job but help you move up the career ladder faster.

Career Tip – If you don't ask for the projects you want, your managers won't know.

If you are having difficulties focusing on the work, take a break. Your brain needs time to absorb information. There comes a point where you are just reading without comprehending. This is useless.

    Good luck!

My tip for those starting their careers in public accounting is to always keep a positive attitude, even when the work you may be performing is tedious and/or confusing. The first year is a HUGE learning curve, and though you may feel like you are lost or aren't learning much, when that first year is over you will realize just how far you have come! Plus, nobody wants to work with a debbie-downer or an unpleasant individual when you have to sit in the same room with them for 10+ hours a day. 🙂

    Happy Mid-Busy Season to All!

Just study every day and keep doing it. No one but yourself will know how much you really put into it.

My best advice is to study in an atmosphere similar to the testing site. At the least do a couple of pre-tests in a very quiet and plain environment.

The first time I went to take the test I had studied many, many hours with the TV going in the back ground and two small children running around the house. I found it very difficult to recall on the test information in an environment so completely opposite of the one I had done the majority of my studying in.

I have used some ninja materials, wiley test bank and cpareviewforfree. I also received a free CPA Excel course for Reg, but I don't have my score yet, so not sure of effectiveness.
