There are three things I am doing this tax season:

    1. Working 7 am to 7 pm (this way I'll put in at least 60 hours not including weekends),

    2. From 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm I'll go to a local coffee shop and study for 2 hours,

    3. Before I head home I'll stop by the gym and work out for 30 mins, another 30 mins for the steam room/shower.

Then… I'll ptfo the second I get home. Depending on my laziness, I estimate that I pack my lunch/dinner 50% and eat out the other 50% of the time. Hope this helps if someone wants a routine! And sorry if this has been repeated 1000000 times already 🙂

    Tip for exam taking:

    – For challenging questions, try to copy the question and the correct answer 3 times. This will help you to remember it more. Basically, you are involving more of your senses. You are reading (seeing) and writing (touching). To increase your chances to remember:

    1. Read the question and the correct answer (seeing)

    2. Write it 3 times (touching)

    3. Then read it aloud after you finish writing (hearing)

Exam Tip: Do not get caught into the whirlwind saga of THE EXAM focus on one test, then the next test, and so forth until you have passed each exam. Breaking it into smaller pieces makes it less overwhelming.

What I wish I would have done: Don't tell busy body office pals that you are studying for the exam. They will ask you every day how it is going and be joyous if you encounter a road bump. Remember it is a road bump not BLOCK!!! you will rock it in the end, it just sucks in the process.

    Exam tip:

First, pick a study plan and stick to it with minor exceptions.

Second, schedule your test date and do not anticipate changing it. This way you will hopefully force yourself to study so that you will be prepared for the test.

Finally, order Ninja audio so that you can listen to the info whole you're driving, working out, etc.

    Hope this helps!

I have noticed many people have written about doing MCQs. I agree these are very helpful in studying for CPA exams. My tip is to take the time to carefully review your answers after doing MCQs. Don't just do the questions and move on to do more. Make sure you understand what you missed and why you missed it. I am guilty of this myself sometimes and I need to remind myself that it is important for me to learn the reason why I missed certain questions.

Tip: Take the CPA exam that will be the hardest/longest for you to study for. That way your credit window won't start until that one is complete.

My Study Tip- Whenever you are in your car turn off the radio and listen to the Ninja Audios. I have been doing this for the last 2 weeks (2hrs of commuting per day). I am working on my final review for FAR and reworking MCQ. Last night during one of my study sessions I answered 11 questions correct that I would have not known the answers to without listening to the audio.

Quiz yourself constantly. Every time you learn something new, quiz yourself to see how much you need to study that subject.

Set a goal and stick to it!!!
