test takers, you need to know that you can review your material during the “break”. they won't allow you to look at the notes during the test.

When I take my first section, I have one thing that I couldn't remember and I need to check my note. I used my test time and take a break, but they won't let you look at your note even though you finish that section. So don't waste the time to take the break if you don't absolutely need anything.

My exam tip is to make sure you practice as many simulations as you can. I have probably wasted about a year of my life because I have been caught on Reg and FAR with sims that I could not do. It is 40% of your grade for 7 questions. Those things can kill you in the end. Just recently I figured on through studying that I was not putting 0 in empty spaces on the exam that I could have been getting dinged for this whole time. smh Practice those sims.

PS if 70 was a passing grade. I would be done by now smh.

A good CPA exam tip is to use the Wiley TB for BEC along with Becker! It helps you understand the topics better.

My top tip would be to not give up. I had a majority of the test passed, then I had a premature baby and the CPA exam went out the window. I am now starting over, which is tedious and annoying, but I have to get it done. Good luck!!

I know that writing and re-writing the notes is the best study method for me and a key to my success in passing the CPA exam (besides putting in the many hours). I watch the Becker lectures, take out the legal pads and take my own notes. After I've taken notes on all the lectures, I do tons of multiple choice questions. Finally I rewrite the notes and go over any problem areas including reworking mc questions.

I also want to note that if you need another week or two to study and need to reschedule your exam, do it. Only you know if/when you're ready. I had many people tell me, “Oh, you just need to take it and get it over with. You're just nervous.” Not so. I knew if I needed more time; plus with all the effort I had already put in, I didn't want to go in even slightly unprepared. I wanted to walk in confidently knowing I had put in the time and effort.

My best study tip for the CPA exam is to believe in yourself and believe you can do this. So many times I have wanted to give up whether it's because I wasn't spending enough time with my kids, with my husband, or with my friends, or I felt like I was slacking with work. At that point, I have to remind myself that I haven't come this far for nothing and in the long run this is better for not just myself, but my family as well.

I have not tested for any sections of the exam yet so I will give a quick tip for finding jobs. You should shamelessly discuss your abilities, desired career path, and applicable skills with all of you upper level bachelors class professors and most to all masters class professor. I just received my masters in taxation and it took me all the courage in the world to ask my capstone course professor if he knew of any jobs available. And unbeknownst to me, he sure did! I sent him my resume that night and it honestly felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders. The reason I say that due to the fact that most of my professor were either adjunct (working full time outside of teaching) or retired from pubic accounting and i knew they already had all the ins and connections to jobs and careers I was just reading about as a college student.
