Best advice so far that has helped me out a lot is writing down concepts/information I missed in the MCQs. I will usually make a note when I am going over my answers and then either write down or create notecards once I am through. This gives you a few minutes for it to sink in after you have received the question to go over the concept again and potentially retain more of it.

    Interview Tip: BE CONFIDENT!

Confidence is a prerequisite for success

    FAR - 1/1
    AUD - 1/1
    BEC - 1/1
    REG - Q4

Have Becker, wish I got Roger

My best advice is not to take short cuts. Understanding the fundamentals is critical in passing the exam. What has really helped me is to do as many MCQ as possible. Read every incorrect answer to understand why the choice is incorrect and then read the correct answer. Don't move on from a topic until you have mastered it. Also, try to take breaks while studying so you don't get burned out.

Best advice – Not to give up! I am now 40 and out of school for 17 years. I have not been disciplined enough to get the job done. As each day passes, I see my friends and co-workers that have successfully passed the CPA exceling at a much faster pace than I am. I have seen how stressed they were when they were studying, but I now see how much more at peace they are that they completed this tremendous task. SO DO NOT GIVE UP! I am going full force with this. I'm doing this more for me and to know that I can do this!.

    FAR - July 2014
    BEC?
    AUD?
    REG?

My best career advice is to make sure you're always presenting your best self. You will find that the professional world can feel very small sometimes so you want to make sure you're always putting your best foot forward. You never know who one day may be asked to provide a reference for you or how your actions today can follow you to your next job (or the one after that even)!

From a career standpoint… make sure you always follow up with your networking circle. Oftentimes people attend networking functions and meet new peope, but never follow up. Make it a point to follow up with a quick email a few days, then a few weeks, then a few months following your interaction.

Study Tip: Take the time to do the Practice SIMS. Not only does it help prepare you for the general ideas they are going to test, it also makes you apply what you've been learning in the MCQs and forces you to think actively about the topic. I've found it helps support a more holistic understanding of the topics.

    B: 83! (expires 2/20)
    A: 56,64,70,74 - Uff da!, 83!
    R: 70, 78!
    F: 76 expired, 69, 2/10

I've been “taking” the exam for the past few years. All I was doing to prepare was reading Becker and doing the example questions in the back of each chapter. That's all I did because a few people at my office passed doing only reading and some questions. It took me a while to learn I needed to prepare much more. The more questions I did, the better my scores got. But what put me over the hump (I passed 2 tests in November) was reading Becker, doing questions from Wiley test bank and taking HAND WRITTEN notes on both the book and the online questions. For me, writing down as much as possible (and understanding), then going back to reread all of your notes every couple of days (more so the week leading up to the test) has been the key. That is what I'm doing with my FAR exam coming up on Tuesday.

Good luck to all! You guys can do it, trust me. If I can pass a couple, anyone can. You just have to want to.

My most important advice that I would give to anyone is to study daily and answer question after question after question. If you miss a question, please understand why you missed it. The exam is difficult, but passing it is possible you just have to put in the work to do it. I am preaching to myself since I am starting back over studying for the monster of an exam.
