I am using becker. My strategy is to try the practice question first. Then read the explanation no matter you got it right or wrong. That gives me a general idea of the my weakness and strong and strength. Then I refer to the material in the books and skim them through. It is a process of preview or warming up to me. I will highlight what I get confused and move to the video lecture. I will give my second attempt to the practice question and read materiel in the book in detail for those question I got wrong.

    Consistency!

Don't let a few days go by without looking at some form of study materials. Even if you are busy with work you can still find 10 mins here and there throughout the day to review a bit of material. It's a slippery slope! A day or a few days without looking at your study materials can turn into a week or two or three! Before you know it, your exam is next week and you are up a creek!

The ninja guides were good for this. I emailed to he PDFs to myself and looked at them on my computer at work when I had some down time and also on my iPhone when ever I had a few spare minutes.

Good luck and study hard. It's totally worth it!

Career tip: Continue to network and communicate with your former classmates even after you graduate. Many of them should be in a similar work field so it's good to keep in touch. Friends and classmates can be vital for references and recommendations in moving up the work ladder.

My study tip is: STUDY, STUDY, STUDY. Try to devote to studying at least three hours a day and more when you can. Be persistent and don't give up. Push yourself and make yourself study even if you don't feel like it at all.

    AUD - 84
    BEC - 84
    REG - 49, 86

My study tip is write down the questions you get wrong and the theory/right answer and then re-read them. Do this until you get the answers right. It eliminates you just remember the correct letter but actually helps you learn what you are getting wrong and how to get it right!

Study Tip: Customize Ninja calendar to fit your own schedule and make sure to have a mini break in between every two hours of study hours. Also, definitely try to take the exam when you're fresh out of college or at least within 2-3 years after graduation, you'll find more inspiration and time to set aside for this commitment.

Career Tip: I also told younger friends/family members to always find a job related to your study field, it doesn't have to be paid job. Anything on your resume will put you ahead of your graduating peers. And another most important point, network network network. It is the highest chance of helping you get your foot through any doors.

Study tip – Don't underestimate what you can do during shorter periods of time. Five minutes of flashcards here and there can really add up and reinforce the material in your head. Don't use only having ten minutes of free time as an excuse not to study at all.

I have a good study tip and a good career tip.

The Study Tip: Know to take a breather, studies do show that you have a better chance of retaining information when you take a mental break. So go for a run, lift weights, play with your kids, hug your pets, whatever thing that can clear head. Then go back with your head cleared and perhaps a new way of looking at the issues you may be having with the material.

Career Tip: Network, and not just with Linkedin and job fairs. My boss takes me to some of the live CPE classes and while there I meet other people in the industry and get my face out there. It doesn't just show that you are wanting to be a CPA, but can present a level of seriousness toward progressing your career as a CPA.
