Useful CPA studying tip! When you are learning certain important topics that you are finding hard to digest, try to relate them to your own personal experience instead of straight up memorizing them. Making an association with the study materials have helped me remember a lot of materials much easier and it might help you too! It helped me pass 3 of 4 exams so far!.

    And Jeff, you are awesome!

My useful tip is to allocate reasonable time periods for each testlet on exam day. That way you will have a proper amount of time to take each testlet, and you won't be stressed because you only have 15 minutes to do the last part of the exam.

Study Tip from review course – Read the stem of the question first, then go back to the beginning of question and start to read. This way, you have an idea of what information may or may not be useful Same review course and instructor – read the answers from bottom to top – this way you are forced to read ALL of them. Otherwise, you may think B sounds right, not realizing D is a better answer.

Started this journey in 2009, when I took a tax preparer position at a national firm, and decided to return to school specifically to earn the accounting credits needed to sit for the CPA exam. A marriage, baby, first home purchase, and new job all were slight detours, but I finally signed up for a review course AND got my NTS.

Another suggestion for financial reasons – decide up front how many sections you could realistically plan to pass in 6 months, and pay for more than one test if you can. I signed up for two, saving myself one application fee of $95. BUT, make sure it isn't money wasted.

Today is 2 weeks till my first CPA exam part and I am feeling very overwhelmed. I started studying mid January using CPAExcel. I used the exam planner but the lessons take me longer to complete their factored time so I am always having to adjust the planner. My next round I am going to take more time to study and use more than one software. I am going to download ninja audio and Wiley test bank today so that will helpfully prepare me for the exam. Good luck ninjas.

    REG- 2/27/14

    FAR- TBD

    AUD- TBD

    BEC- TBD

The best CPA exam from me…if you do not pass a particular section of the CPA exam, take it again and again until you conquered it. In this way, the material is still fresh in your mind and you build on what you already know instead of having to relearn it months later.

Then move on to the next section.

My exam tip is to study extremely hard, but take time for yourself. Also, study the stuff you don't know… It sounds obvious, but making your scores look good while studying does nothing on exam day.

    BEC - 75
    AUD -
    REG - 11/2015
    FAR - 10/2015

Take a week off two weeks prior to exam day and devote all your energy to studying in coffee shops or preferably a library where it is less distracting. After having worked through the mcqs ad naseium, go through the simulations at least a week or two prior to exam day for familiarity with the topics. Study late into the night and give it all you've got! You will find that you need to know the overall concepts well to carry you through the sims and not every little exception and rule. Don't dig too deep where you spend an inordinate amount of time in unnecessary areas.

As for career advice, don't be afraid to be different or go against conventional wisdom. Always look to help out others as a servant leader and be a positive influence to those around you. Find a good mentor or two who will take you under their wing and give you some good advice. As an accountant be good at double checks and build a good name for yourself. Don't just settle for the first job you are offered but look at what you really want to do with your career. Good luck all and go get 'em Ninjas!

I am using becker. My strategy is to try the practice question first. Then read the explanation no matter you got it right or wrong. That gives me a general idea of the my weakness and strong and strength. Then I refer to the material in the books and skim them through. It is a process of preview or warming up to me. I will highlight what I get confused and move to the video lecture. I will give my second attempt to the practice question and read materiel in the book in detail for those question I got wrong.
