The best study advice I can give anyone is to rewrite rewrite rewrite everything you study. The second mental advice I can give, as corny as it sounds, is DO NOT GIVE UP. . . . Keep coming back here to this site because there is no better feeling than knowing you are not alone in your CPA journey . . . become a CPA because it is what you want, it is your career, never forget that . . . You have to do this for you first, those that love you will support you no matter what, and when you do pass they will be there to celebrate with you and be proud of you. Just remember that it is ok to be proud of yourself too. . . You earned it!

My best career advice for new accountants:

Do not worry about what other people at work are doing. Focus on your work and do the best you can.

Career Advice: Do what you love…since you'll be doing it for a while. Walking into work dreading the job will only cut years off your life. Nothing beats what bliss feels.

CPA Advice: Set a target. Follow it aggressively. Kick ass on the exam!

My tip is for those who are trying to study while working.

If you are working and are able to stay after and study at your office, DO IT. It is a lot easier to stay focused when you study right after work in your office. For me I think the drive home (only 15 minutes) gets me out of work mode. When I would go home, I would cook dinner, and eat before I would study and the next thing I knew it was time to go to sleep. When I study after work, I can knock out 3 hours and still have 2 hours to relax when I get home. I also use my lunch break to study a little more so I can do 4 hours a day during the week.

Hope this helps at least 1 person

Career advice – Never turn down a lunch invitation. If you already have plans, ask for a rain check. Or if the person asking doesn't know the person you're lunching with, invite him or her along and introduce them.

This is especially true for interns who don't have a full time offer yet, but is also helpful for anyway. Networking is at least as important as skill.

    FAR - 89
    REG - 81
    AUD - 88
    BEC - 80 - Annnnnd SCENE.

I have tried all the major video makers for CPA study materials. The best advice is that the CPA exam is not an IQ test, it is a test of discipline and perseverance.

The best advice I can give would be to really make a strategic and realistic plan that you can stick to! Set goals for yourself each week or even each day and make sure you stay on track to meet them. Once you fall behind, it's hard to find the motivation to catch back up.
