Study tip: try to get a study group. Helps you get someone else's perspective on a topic you are having problem understanding. Also, allow yourself some 2 weeks to review everything once again after you finish everything.

    BEC- PASSED (expires 8/2014)
    AUD- PASSED (expires 3/2015)
    REG- PASSED (expires 4/2015)
    FAR- EXAM on 2/14/14

My study tip would be to commit to a set schedule and leave yourself some time for relaxation. Looking at something for too long won't help you retain anything. Take a break and get back to it with a fresh mind!

It's important to repeatedly do your multiple choice questions and also understand why the other answer choices are incorrect even though you may have answered correctly.

Study tip: Quality over Quantity. Make sure you are actually grasping the material and learning it rather than trying to get through as much material as possible in the shortest amount of time. There are no short cuts with the CPA exam. You have to cut out all fun from your life in order to pass. Make sure you are realistic with your studying and how you retain information, whether you have to spend 20 hours or 220 hours to study one section.

I have been taking exams for a little while now and I have come to learn that I suck at note taking. I have tried re-writing the ninja notes but this has not covered as much material as I would like. I still re-write the ninja notes just before the exam because it is a great way to get a overview of the material.

What I do is watch videos and re-write the notes in the book I was told to highlight in question format. I literally will try to think to myself “How would this be asked in a question” I then have a line answering the question. It helps me think deeper about the material and try to get more ready for MCQ's and sims by getting a deeper knowledge of the material. The one warning I have about this method is that it takes A LOT of time, especially for a guy like me who struggles with being a speed typer.

FAR and REG down and a little over a year to finish AUD and BEC! Wishing you and me luck in these exams! Find out what works for you!

    BEC - 5/3/14
    AUD - 77 (x1)
    REG - 86 (x3)
    FAR - 75 (x3)

My career tip is to give more to your company then you take.

I'll give a study tip that has helped me – make sure you are putting in quality study time. If you aren't paying attention you can put in 8 hours studying and still not learn anything.

Have good sleeping habits. This can apply to studying for the exam or the night before the exam. Being well rested is essential.
