My best study tip for any subject at all: Listen to music that has neither words nor drums (or anything else literally keeping the beat.) I built a “study station” on pandora just for this. The reasoning is that most of us use exactly the same side of the brain to process music as we do to process all things related to numbers. The brain cannot fully do both at the same time that counting of any kind is going on (the drum beating). Information gets committed to long-term memory more efficiently for most people this way. Good Luck All!

Study in a variety of ways! Listen to NINJA audio, work multiple choice questions, write your own notes, re-read your notes, re-write the NINJA notes, and review SIMS. Essentially, don't get stuck in a rut of only working multiple choice questions.

AUD: 58, 87 (added the 10 Point Combo)

    Exam Tip:

Mix up your routine. Do burst studying. Set a timer and do x number of minutes doing MCQs, then note taking, do a Sim, change topics, and continue to change up the activity every 10 minutes or so. It's a nice break from the routine and I think it trains the mind in changing topics quickly. I usually do this about once a week for a couple of hours.

Study Tip: When reviewing before the exam do a ton of multiple choice questions and after each multiple choice ask yourself if you understand why the question is right or wrong. I have noticed when I do the same questions over and over again, I memorize the answers and just click the right answer the next time I see that question. But please make sure to stop and ask yourself WHY? why is that the answer. If you don't know, look it up in the book or make a flashcard or reread that section in the book.. I have flashcards and when I review for the exam I go through each flashcard and make sure I understand that flashcard, I usually have my book open and just go through each flashcard and look it up in the book to read more about it, it seems to stick more.

Good luck on your exams: The CPA is a monster..

My study advice is to make your own little summary summary for each Chapter. Write it down by hand and in your own words if possible. Use dif colors, tables and arrows connecting etc. – anything that makes it easier for you to read over and memorize. Create your own mnemonics – for example I made my own to remember all the Adjustments for REG.

Look over those summary chapters the day before your exam, I read them over 3-5times to make sure that everything sticks.

    Then pray. 🙂

Best interview question to keep in mind!

“If your neighbor has an emergency and asks you to watch his baby elephant for a few hours, what would you do? Take care of him or take him to the zoo?”
