My best tip for single custodial parents is to study at work. My boss allows me to study after my work is complete each day, which motivates me to finish early. That allows time with my toddler and other household chores. No matter what happens at home, I already studied several hours during the day and I would definitely study after he is asleep. Being organized with your studying also helps.

Don't forget to breathe! This is a very useful tool while taking the test. If you breathe deep enough, while stressed, you can actually slow your heart rate down, helps you to better focus on the task at hand.

I write my study notes in pencil. I re-write on the top of them with a blue gel pen.

While I am studying for the CPA Examination and I am feeling burnt out, I take a mental break by doing some sort of brain stimulating activity (jog in place, jump rope, push-ups, etc). This always helps me to get back on track of studying.

I guess I'm a lurker. This is my first post ever. The thing that helped me learn the best was to not study at home. It is really hard when you have a family. I didn't retain as much when I was at home. My other piece of advice with this , is to be at home when you are at home. Study when it's time to study and be at home when it's time to be at home.

My best study tip would be to develop a system of progress testings. So much material to keep straight it is hard to remember information from say chapter 1 when you are working in chapter 8 (FAR). I have found after each chapter, I take a progress test of Chapters 1- the current chapter I am working on. I am new to the forum and adding supplements to my study material. I started with Becker material only but need new material and perspective to master some of the topics.

    REG: 80 Jan 2013

    BEC: 76 Feb 2013

FAR: 71, April 2013, 67 Nov 2013, Retesting Feb 21, 2014. I really need to get passed this section.

    AUD: 60 July 2013 Retesting May 2014.

I am at risk of losing REG and BEC if not finished by July 2014.
