I am using Becker for review materials and listen to NINJA audio on my 45 minute one way commute to work. Best strategy for me is to view the lecture, read the chapter and take notes summarizing the chapters (writing things down helps so much with reinforcement and memorization), do mc until I feel I have mastered them. In the final week or two before the exam I skim over the book again hitting the main points and writing down notes on key topics or areas I feel are my weak points and then do tons of MC and simulation problems.

AUD passed Nov 2013, waiting on BEC results (took in Jan) and plan to start studying REG (assuming I passed BEC!) when tax season starts to taper off.

The best advise I can give you all is to do questions, questions, and more questions. That is the way you learn when you get questions wrong and understand why you got the question incorrect it will help you understand many concepts. Also, you never know, you might have similar kinds of questions on the exam. And always remember if there is a will there is a way!

My best advise would be to hand write all notes and flashcards. You'll retain much more information by hand writing, as opposed to just reading printed notes. Oh and never give up!!

My best advice is to give yourself a break when you are feeling overwhelmed. I like to take a break about every hour, get up, get some blood flowing and then go back to the material. This helps me refocus instead of “waiting” for my study time to be over. I wish everyone the best on their exam!

    CPA Exam study tip.

I received this tip from one of my accounting professors in college. He told me to study with the radio on and specifically talk radio. He suggested this because it won't be quiet when your taking your exam. People are going to talking, walking around and even though it may not be that loud it could cause some distraction. Its a way to train to focus when there are distractions around.

    Cheers!

It is better to put in a lot of study hours in a shorter amount of time then it is to stretch them out over months. It is harder to retain over details over months and you may lose credit for a section.

My best tip for studying for the CPA is to make sure that you have a good study plan that can handle missteps along the way. There have been too many times when “things” come up in life and you need to restructure you study schedule, possibly not leaving you enough time to study. Also when you are taking your exams use all the time they give you! Don't feel rushed when others are finishing up and keep your focus on yourself.
