Do not underestimate your lunch break.

I rarely, if ever, go out to eat for lunch. I am trying to trim my budget and whenever I go out, my eating habits are atrocious. I pack my lunch bag full of leftovers (don’t judge, I’m cooking for one!), and after I eat, check my personal email and twitter, I have 45 minutes. This is great because my work is quiet and free of distractions (our internet blocks all social media websites). Since I am only studying for 45 minutes) it is easier to retain information and not get burnt out.

    B-passed! (4/2013). Lost Credit. Passed again (3/2015)
    A-passed! (2/2014)
    R-passed! (8/2013). Lost Credit. Passed again (6/2015)
    F-Passed! (4/2015)

My tip is to have at least knowledge of every topic on the section. You do not have to master each topic but at least know enough to get you through the exam. I have gotten so caught up in trying to understand every little detail that I do not finish my study material before my exam date… not good. Finish your exam plan, note where you were struggling, and then do a bunch of multiple choice for your review.

    REG - PASSED, Expires 5/24/14
    AUDIT - Scheduled 5/23/14
    BEC - Sat 1/25/14
    FAR - Scheduled 4/19/14

When you retake a section, treat it as if you never took the section before. Do not just try to review the sections you felt weak in. I retook AUD and really only concentrated on the parts I felt weak on and improved there but fell in other areas. Now I will get a 3rd chance to take it.

    Far 71, 75

    REG 75

    AUD 56, 65, ??

    BEC 71, ??

    Interview tip!

Present your best to the interviewers, but BE CONFIDENT in your own worth! Do not appear to be someone who is absolutely desperate to get this job (even if you are!) Let them know that you have other great options. Show them that you are confident in your ability to bring a great value to the company, and if they want to have you they have to fight for you. Show them that you are not an easy catch, but you absolutely worth their effort!

My best tip studying for the CPA exam is to practice a lot of MCQS as well as simulations, spend less time reading the material! Of course use the material from Another71, because it is condensed and concise. Jeff's voice will come into your mind on the exam's day. Good luck everyone!!!!

I am using Becker for review materials and listen to NINJA audio on my 45 minute one way commute to work. Best strategy for me is to view the lecture, read the chapter and take notes summarizing the chapters (writing things down helps so much with reinforcement and memorization), do mc until I feel I have mastered them. In the final week or two before the exam I skim over the book again hitting the main points and writing down notes on key topics or areas I feel are my weak points and then do tons of MC and simulation problems.

AUD passed Nov 2013, waiting on BEC results (took in Jan) and plan to start studying REG (assuming I passed BEC!) when tax season starts to taper off.
