Study Tip – Take as many notes as you can. I take notes during lectures, when doing MCQ, and even when listening to Audio at work. Audio works well for me because I listen to it for about 4-5 hours a day at work. I also have an hour train ride for my commute so I re-write the notes during this time.

    We've all heard it before:

    – Set a schedule and stick with it

    – Be consistent

    – Give up Facebook and other types of social media, entertainment, etc.

But my advice to you is:

Get an accountability partner! Someone who will motivate and encourage throughout this CPA journey, someone who will check up on you regularly and pick you up when you feel defeated.

The best career advice that I have is that if possible find a place to work that makes you happy. Going to work with good people in a good supportive environment keeps me sane during busy work times, but also while I try to conquer my CPA. My only study tip is to do as much trial and error as you need to find the system that works for you. No two people learn and retain in the exact same way.

My best study tip for someone who has been out of college for a long time and just now getting back to studying for the CPA exam is, to find the study course that best speaks to you. Read, watch the lectures, and reread. MCQ's over and over again.

My best advice is if you are not going to be 100% committed to studying, don't bother. It takes an extreme amount of dedication and hard work to study the materials, and if you aren't going to give it your best, why waste the time? (Yes, I am speaking from experience! And proud to say I am now focused!)

My study tip is to use every MCQ as a 4-way learning tool. 1 correct answer and 3 incorrect answers: knowing why (correct vs. incorrect) on each scenario was key for me!

My career advise is always set goals and work toward them and do not let anyone bring you down!

    AUD - 84
    BEC - 79
    FAR - 80
    REG - 75

The best advice I can give so far is to PLAN AHEAD. As soon as you know you're going to take the exam, plan out when it is going to be best for you to take the exams, plan out how you're going to go about studying for them, plan out where you want to study, for how long, how many days a week…planning is key, because there's just so much material to cover and learn. The better plan of attack you have going into it, the better chance you have of succeeding. Don't wait until the last minute to decide when to take it, and DEFINITELY don't wait until the last week or two to study!
