As someone who works in the advisory practice at Deloitte – my best advice to new hires – learn advance formulas in Excel. It's really frustrating when I have to teach new hires simple Excel formulas like vlookups, sumif, index etc.

Also if you demonstrate your keyboard shortcut abilities in Excel – I will be VERY impressed.

    🙂

Best advice is to do as many MC questions to get yourself a feel to what exactly the information they are testing can be expressed as. Good luck!

My study tip is to set up a designated area where I always study, which is my home office. No couch. No bed. No kitchen (otherwise I am always thinking what snack I can eat next!) I also plan for tomorrow's study session, by scanning the lessons I will work, printing anything I might want to use, and setting out my notepads, pens, and whiteout. This way I can jump right into things.

    Good luck everyone!

The best tip that I have is make your own flash cards. I use becker to study, and instead of buying their flash cards I make my own on index cards as I go through the questions. By the time you are done with all the questions, you have a stack of index cards that you can use to study on the go. And actually writing the cards out helps each question stick more. This may not be for everyone but it has helped me pass two parts so far. Good luck!

    Hmmm!

As of now I am studying whenever I can! Start studying, remember a body in study can keep studying………

Avoid checking your mail more than once a day!

No Facebook! …..maybe once a week.

    ….

Concentrate! If you didn't get it in one go, that's cause you are not concentrating! And that's cause you are checking your mail or FB too frequently. No one will miss ya if you check FB once a month, in fact you will get warm welcome back.

Best time to study is when every one is asleep! So sleep during the day while kids are watching t.v. if you are a SAHM.

Self discipline is the key! Do keep in touch with Jeff's mailers! He's great at motivating! Keeps the lamp burning!

Hope I get the I padmini! Incidentally this is also my daughters name! Padmini 🙂

Study Tip: When you get to work early to study: HIDE! If you study at your desk, other coworkers who came in early will talk to you. I didn't wake up two hours early to talk to my coworkers! It's amazing how quickly chit chat will eat up your study time.

Career Tip: Send out holiday cards each year to people you met at networking events that you would like to keep in touch with. People don't really send handwritten stuff in the mail anymore so it's kind of a fun surprise. Then some people will email you that they got them in the mail and that will spark a new conversation.
