My exam tip can be summarized in just three simple, yet effective words that are associated with the greatest basketball player of all time:

    JUST DO IT!

CAREER ADVICE FROM ONE OF MY BOSSES

1.CHOOSING YOUR BOSS IS YOUR MOST IMPORTANT CAREER DECISION

The type of boss you have will make or break your career path. A boss who also acts as a mentor is the ideal and if you do not have this type of a boss, you need to find one!

    2.GET IN THE ARENA

Participate! Don't be a spectator. However, you have to allow room for failure. If the price of failure is too high, people will not want to participate. Therefore, you must make it ok to FAIL as failure is a very important part of success.

3.CELEBRATE EVERY SUCCESS, BUT DEFINE FAILURE

The parameters between success and failure must be well defined and articulated.

The best thing that has helped me is to budget in time to study. I would wake up an hour and a half early, eat breakfast and study. At night I would try to allow myself another hour and a half to study. Making it part of your day will help as you don't feel like you are trying to squeeze in time when you can.

    BEC - 82 (01/13/14)
    AUD - 69,84 (06/22/13)(2/24/14)
    REG - 86 (11/07/13)
    FAR - 75 (04/18/13)

The most important thing I have learned while trying to pass is to stay motivated. It is easy to say “oh I'll just study longer tomorrow”. Scheduling your study time and sticking with the schedule is very important. Part of my study schedule is to do a little of studying each day and not just cramming on the weekends. Little bits here and there help me stay focused and not feel overwhelmed with the amount of material. Stay motivated and know it will all be worth it in the end!

My best study tip for the cpa exam is to break the material in bite size chunks so you don't feel overwhelmed. Make sure you do the multiple choice questions and make flashcards or notes on the questions you missed. I ordered Jeff's flashcards and I used brainscape to help me memorize the flashcards. That is very helpful. I don't have to worry which material is important since Jeff helped me out. If you don't have access to a computer, you can write it down which reinforces studying and repetitive review.

I am reading everyone's review and will start employing different study strategies to hold myself accountable.

I make two lists. One that captures my weekly study time and the other with my “free time”. This helps me focus on using my time wisely and not feel like all I do is study 🙂

    Good luck everyone!

TIP: if u encounter a question on exam that is giving you a hard time or you cant figure out the answer after 1.5 mins just skip it and finish the testlet, now go back to the question and try it again u will get it 4 sure. Go to your local psychiatrist and get a prescription for adderall, you will thank me later.

Be as well-rested as possible when going in for the exam! Tricky questions are much easier to spot when you aren't super tired.
