I have an interview with a public accounting firm in NYC and its for a State and Local Tax position. I have had no experience with SALT in the past but the HR person who reached out said that one of the interviewers is tough. She said I should know why I am interested in SALT (when really I am just starting out and what experience). Also she told me to know some of the recent news regarding SALT.

Can someone help me with this? I have been researching about SALT but I still cannot get a grasp about it and news going on with it

    AUD: PASSED!

Usually the company website will have white papers or articles related to SALT if it is one of their main focus areas.

No matter what position you are applying for it is best to know why you want to be there. For me in auditing, I was able to tie some of my experience (from another field) to what auditors do and I was able to suggest some of my skills/traits that would make me a good fit for the role. If you can hon in on some of those aspects of yourself then you should be able to build a strong case for yourself without actually knowing 100% what the SALT group does.
